"Are you soft, Fitz? When I tell you... to dump a body in the marsh, you dump him *IN* the marsh. Not where some guy from John Hancock goes every Thursday, TO GET A FUCKING BLOWJOB!"
and DEFINITELY not where an influential writer, unstuck in time from the nineteenth century, goes to take advantage of the rampantly oversexin' of the MODERN FUCKING WORLD!
I've been going through the archives of Overcompensating and Scary Go Round. God, at last, being unemployed has allowed me to reap some serious benefits (Psychonauts not withstanding). Jeffrey Rowland and John Allison make me want to be a better man. Followed very closely but the sudden and heartbreaking realization that I'm (eternally) an inferior artist and that I'm not as pretty as them.
Allison's art is utterly enthralling. The times when I'm not laughing hysterically are spent staring slack-jawed at my monitor. It's just awesome, in the original sense of the word (the Eddie Izzard sense). I've started to hate my own artwork, which I guess I used to enjoy for it's classlessness (that I'd hoped lent itself to some kind of charm). No hyperbole, dude. There's this sense, as I'm drawing now that... "no, dammit - I can do better than this." Unfortunately for you, I drew this comic yesterday and you have to deal with it.
I meant to post this a while ago - I did this back in November (?) as a guest strip for the Uber Bean*. Do enjoy.
Bout to leave for a bit of a vacation in a few hours - the comic WON'T be updating while I'm gone but I'm going to start working on a new arc while I'm away.
A proper arc - with an actual story. The gag-a-day thing has officially come to an end.
I really like this one. But it should be noted that Yaz's beard in real life is quite manly - I'm not entirely sure why I gave him the George Michael stubble there...
Also, I spent an hour drawing a really awesome bookcase for panel 2 and cover every bit of it with word balloons. Huzzah.
