Power Grand is my favorite bad alien. Even more than MPG. I just love this guy and his overpowered abilty.
I was really leery abut giving him a power this potent. Luckily Cutter Grand had the perfect power to take him on. No need for energy attacks when you can move things with your mind! Including moving energy around.
Power Grand's design was heavily inspired by the aliens from "Aliens" and some arachnid for good measure. Probably some Guyver too. Everyone says he looks like a Zoanoid from there. And I did like Guyver as a kid so it's possible that without knowing features from Guyver fell into the grands.
Though more Mega Man fell into them IMO, especially the Cyro Grand armor designs.
Oh Phern Grand... you poor poor awesomely designed guy.

Okay, so how did this guy get so lucky you ask? Me and my friend I sometimes brainstorm with were trying to come up with a power for him.
He's another "I need an alien to make 7 chosen" guys and thus really useless. So we started off naming legit powers. Then we started getting silly. "Let's make HIS power as useless as he is!" Not one to ever be too too serious with my characters and universe I loved it.
It was a close race between rolling into a ball and growing those fins he has. I chose the fins so they could at least block Cean's tentacles a bit.
Throughout the comic I have characters poke fun at his ability as a part of my inside joke on it.
Obviously part of his head was inspired from The Predator movies. Other than that I just put together insect and lizard attributes as I usually did when making these guys.
Pulna Grand is without a doubt one of THE hardest characters for me to draw in my comic. I used a method for this picture inspired after I saw how Ed Bang sketches his work. Using nothing but blocks to construct him.
Pulna was the 1st chosen pred I made. The name? Random... I knew it needed a "P" in the front :P
In my comics I try to depict him as a very mobile living tank (which is why drawing him as a tank helps I guess)
Ever since I made him up I have always thought he looked really familiar. Like a repressed cartoon character from my childhood. Has that ever happened to anyone else? :P Though when I was drawing him for this picture I thought his head looked like Optimus Prime's a bit.
Cutter is pretty cool too. I didn't realize how much I would like him till later as I made the comic.
I actually just happened to randomly give him telekinesis and Power Grand got his ability like right when I was going to finally draw him in. Their abilities really worked well against each other. It was like they were made to be the perfect opposing forces.
The fin things that are on his body I imagine were given to help him levitate with his telekinesis.
