Comic description

"Living In La La Land" was what the creator of this strip has been frequently accused of. A mentally unstable/physically disabled bohemian artist couple just on the other side of self-destruction tries to make their way through an entropic bohemia largely found in (but not limited to) an abandoned coffin factory in industrial Brooklyn. Each page represents a snapshot of a chaotic and dreamlike life and love.

No offense meant to those I know who benefit from 12-step programs...when this was written an altercation had occurred with someone who had adopted the rhetoric to point fingers at everybody else (and at the time of this writing, apparently hasn't gotten to step 9 about that kind of thing. :p )

Ryan is not really sad to be playing this song–that choked sob was part of it. I guess it worked, too, from the bit of an entourage I noticed him cultivate the two or three times I saw this.

Much like coloring scenes set in whitebox galleries, the space here, which was done in that white and cream minimalist decor that seems appealing to the hip young transplant set, is challenging to replicate in a color comic and still have it look engaging. So I rely on filter textures.

Graffiti is comforting to me, I guess, because it was so much part of the environment when I was very small. I am old enough to recall cocoon-like subway cars three layers thick with various tags or images, fat bubble lettering, Vaughn Bode-inspired imagery before I had even learned who Vaughn Bode was and the like. So, not only can graffiti be visually engaging, it’s comforting. It makes me feel ensconced in the warren.
