I wouldn't be suprised~! Speaking of which we need to put more effort into training ours. Most of them come to their names, but they don't do any tricks because we haven't put the time in. They're so clever though, it wouldn't take long. *u*
Oh my goodness D: Sounds like you've had a lot of rats! <: My boyfriend has kept them before, but I haven't, these 6 are my first bunch. :3 We also sometimes think about breeding them (sometime in the future), but I'm not sure we'd have time for it. And also yes those problems, it'd be difficult.
(Baby ratties are so cute though nnnnng) *U*
Eve is doing fine, it looks like the wound is drying up and healing inside (though it's hard to tell). She's still hiding/cowering from me a bit because she thinks traumatic things might happen, and is probably bored on her own, but it has to be. ._.;
Yeah! We were only worried because it was on her throat/neck very close to the Jugular, otherwise we would have just kept her under observation like you say, since she didn't seem to be in pain, and was happy eating and playing as normal.
It would suck if it came back because of where it is - I'm not sure we could just leave it, but on the other hand we also can't afford to be spending that much money regularly. ): I mean, at what point do we have to call it quits and let nature run its course? Hopefully it won't come to that and we can stop the infection this time round for good. D:
The only thing we can do is hope that it doesn't get reinfected. She's a strong one, all we can do it keep on cleaning her temporary cage thoroughly and regularly as well as washing out her wound and hoping her body will take care of the rest and heal fully.
Thankyou for the re-assurance/luck, it's nice to hear from someone who doesn't just think it's silly to spend money on a little animal and has been through the same thing. C:
One of our rats developed an abscess over the weekend. Spoilered because of length.
Because it was on her throat we took her to the vets. Good job too, she had to have a minor op to prevent the pus from breaking through her neck into her throat and killing her. ):
It cost £100 all included, we knew it'd be steep but... well, we accepted responsibility for their health and happiness (whatever the cost) when we adopted them. And we're not going to let an animal in our care die just because we don't want to shell out some money. Even if it is so much.
Some people might say that's too much money to be spending on just one little rat, but she's probably going to live another 2.5 years and anyway I don't think we're capable of denying her care if we can afford it.
She's seperated from the other rats now, in our smaller old cage on her own, and will have to be for about 2 weeks. She must be lonely and bored in there, but she needs to get better. >: We've got a syringe/solution and cream to be put on every day, so I have to pull the solution into the syringe, and then squirt it into the open wound in her throat.
Let me tell you how hard it is to hold a thrashing, distressed, frightened rattie in one hand while trying to clean out a wound that is nearly inaccessible when holding the scruff. ): And then put cream into the wound directly. It's really hard.
I feel really bad doing it, but it has to be done. I told her that! "I know Eve, I know, but it HAS to be done, it's so you can get better" But of course she doesn't understand. Then she doesnt want cuddles or even peanut butter and flinches away, which makes me sad and teary.
It's because Eve is a trouble-maker, always starting fights for dominance. She's only half a year old or so, but she's probably the biggest and strongest. She recovered really fast from the anaesthesia and she doesn't seem phased by the experience... it's just traumatic to see that gaping wound and having to clean it out against strong opposition.
Well, she'll be ok. She's a fighter, that one.
rokulily:i am now inspired to do mine this is so pretty and wonderful, and you are among my favorite internet artists
and i'll just fangirl over here for a bit
/is a long-term stealth-admirer of yours
Your favourite strain in art nouveau? o u o Definitely do it!
I was put off at first because it seemed daunting (and it stayed on my to-draw list for weeks), but then I did a big research/inspiration board first and that helped~
And I'm really glad I saw it through. C:
Today I decided to dedicate more time to my comic/s and personal projects. It's not enough to just draw one page once a week, I need to spend time thinking about my characters and world - and drawing those things. Drawing people and places. Working on my own ideas and developing things, instead of just practising anatomy or drawing other people's characters.
I feel like I lost sight of what I want to put across. I'm not expressing myself enough, I'm not putting enough of myself into my work. Where am I writing and drawing about my inspirations, hopes, dreams, fears, motivations, feelings, thoughts? Where is the art that I daydream about? Why aren't I drawing all those big ideas I have? Does my art represent me?
Not yet. But it will. I got distracted, but I think I'm back on track now.
I like colourful skin/hair. Yesssss I do. O u O
Also, after having previously convinced myself I can't do digital painting to save my life... A break-through! C: I think I've found a technique that works well for me~ FINALLY
Hnnnn I'm looking forward to reading this, I lovelove silent comics. I haven't seen this talking in colours idea before, and I think it's great~! I prefer the speechbubbles without symbols, but I think both are good choices to go with. =u=
Oh I see~ Yes in that case any couple in a sexual relationship (no matter what gender/orientation/etcblahblah the participants) would just be another normal couple for you, understood. <:
I remember watching a documentary which featured an asexual girl a while ago, I can't remember what it was called any more, but she had found someone to have a non-sexual loving relationship with. They cooked, hugged, cuddled, kissed, did everything together, but nothing sexual. And it was mutually loving and acceptable and neither of them wanted more. I hope you find that too~ >u<
Aha, so that's the most common term? Thankyou. Kinda difficult to stumble upon the right phrasing/keywords sometimes. I asked since that's what my relationship is like. >u<
I still don't think that I could place myself firmly in any one camp or identify with any orientation (or perhaps I just don't know the name for it). All I know is that I've got the right balance right now with my partner. Neither of us like traditional gender roles, and although we're not intentionally reversing them - often it does come out that way. n___n
edit; What is your frame of reference, Pineapple? :3
I've been wondering lately, if there is a term for a heterosexual couple whose gender roles are reversed (romantically, sexually, and generally)? C:
I did google it a bit, but mostly it turned up psychological disturbance papers (cross-gender identification?) and stuff like that, I don't know how common it is but I couldn't find much on it.
Fnibble: Thankyou! I feel you on that perspective with the jaw/neck/face. It's a tricky one. It just looks.. weird every time I draw it, even from references. I think we're just not used to seeing that perspective very often? I think you've done well with it. :D
We all have different attitudes to our dreams. How important they are, whether or not they are enjoyable, what purpose they serve, and so forth. That then must affects the desire to lucid dream (or not).
I place quite a high value on my dreams, but then I'm always trying to understand myself and look from the outside in on my emotions/reactions/nature. That's why I'm so interested (well, half the reason) - I want to see what my unconscious mind throws at me.
I understand what you want, Ranger, with being a spectator. I want to be somewhat of a spectator in that I want to explore the world my mind has built, but have control over what I do and where I go. And see what happens.
But also I want to do cool stuff.
There was a question on r/luciddreaming recently; 'what are your top 3 things to do while lucid', and unsuprisingly the top replies were pretty much all 'bang hot chicks'.
Bloody reddit. I thought maybe lucid dreaming attracted a different crowd.. oh well. Anyway.
After that there was a lot of varying super powers. A lot of people want to fly, have telekinesis, walk up walls, beat up bad guys, that sort of thing.
Perhaps I should add it as a question to the first post; what would you do if/when you achieve dream control?
Ahh I read that comic of yours already Fools~ >u> I thought it was really cool :3
I think drawing them is a really good idea /nodnod C:
That's really interesting Pineapple, can't say I have anything like that! :>
Although I do sometimes return to a dreamscape (though that's rare).
It's also cool how transport in dreams is reflective of how you get around in real life. When I was at school, my dream travel was usually on buses. At university it was on my bike, and now it's generally on foot. If I knew how to drive and did that often it'd probably be by car.
Also I wonder if everyone has a sort of.. internal power or transformation they can do in dreams? I mentioned that mine is dragon related. Either I ride one, or turn into one (fully or partially). That, or being able to run/move really fast and powerfully.
Generally it happens more when I feel ambitious and motivated towards a goal irl. :3
I don't remember all dreams in vivid detail, only a handful, the rest can vary from scenes, moments, or just a few words ("the breadcrumb crisis" is one I wrote down blearily in the middle of the night, along with "remember the twelve-headed swan"). Hahaha. :3
I feel like the vivid ones are really special. O u O
Awesome that you drew them!
