I'm no expert writer but when I look for good character interaction, I look at Silent Hill 2.
Yes there is ittle interaction between characters but when there is it shows the relationship the characters have and how they feel about each other.
James Sutherland, the main character, shows sympathy to a insane woman abused by her father, he speaks in a slightly condescending tone, as if he's speaking to a child or puppy, but he also shows a soft caring nature. He tries to be close to her when he talks but keeps distance enough for comfort. When he talks to Eddy, an psychopathic killer, there is tension and disconnection, he speaks as though he is a a good friend trying to ward him of his actions, there is anger and disappointment in in his tone and words.
The thing to remember is to carefully think about what words you would use and what a characters body language is saying. Would a character be standing relaxed and calm if he was talking to a dieing relative? Or would he be tense and still with sadness and remorse?
