I'm one of the few who likes vampire stories but detests sucky ones like Twilight. Let me say why some girls like vampire stories:
1. It's all about eternal youth and good looks. Girls fantasize about having good looking guys hunting them down and giving them the hot succulent kiss.
2. It's all about the money. Vampires live in mansions or castles. Obviously they are incredibly rich. So, another point why girls fantasize about hanging out with rich guys.
3. The cool emo looks without the emo attitude. Traditionally, vampires don't give a damn what you think of them and they can do however they like with style. Take Dracula, for example... this guy had the emo look written all over but he still showed his elegance when dealing with new visitors. Too bad most of the vampire stories have ruined this concept big time but some fangirls just want to dig emo vampires anyway.
4. Vampires are suppose to be intelligent, desire driven, compassionless, with sharp senses, fast and strong. You need skills to fight them. Girls love powerful characters.
There's more to list but I'm kind of lazy right now.
Critique... Well, when I read comics, I usually don't go around pointing others' weaknesses and such. Instead, I'd choose to give a positive suggestions where you could improve. :)
I notice the scene sometimes cut to another scene quite unexpectedly. Perhaps it could be a way the girl narrating her story with very little descriptive, transitional and conjugative words. Not that it's bad or anything since I understand that it's to show the character's stubborn personality and her selfish point of view. However, it can get a bit dull in the long run if the story is all focused on one character.
What I could suggest is to provide more than one view of the narration. This will give the readers a sense of variety from one person's perpective to another and also allow the readers to get familiar with each of the characters in the story better.
As for the art, I think it's fine. However, the panel line is about the same thickness as the main drawing. It would be good if you could use thinner lines for the panels and you could probably use a ruler to line your panels. This will help bring out your main drawings more but that's just my preference.
Other than that, I think the rest is up to you to decide how you want to improve your comic. Oh, you don't have to draw any fanarts for me. I'd prefer you to focus more on drawing your comics instead of spending hours drawing a fanart for a simple 10-minute review from me. :)
OnlyFoolsAndVikings:And yes Shipp, that is precisely what happens. I've owned chickens for years, happens when they get to the age of two. Yep.
Not really. I have seen a guy separating chicks based on their genders after they are hatched. He flipped over the chicks and nudge their tummy a bit before putting them into a box. He told us this one's a male and the other is female.
Bramble Patch:Content, definitely. I've noticed a few people in here saying something along the lines of "if I just want a story, I'll read a book" - I'm the other way around. If I just want pretty pictures, I'll go browse deviantArt
Yep, gotta agree with this one. A comic is meant to present an alternative way to tell story thru visual. A comic is not a comic if it only shows pretty pictures without any need for content. That is what art books are for.
Some independent animated shorts are like precious gems you don't find in commercially animated films. These are just few of the stuffs I find that are really fascinating. Have you ever seen some really good independent animated shorts? Do recommend here.
