Magravan:Welcome to Comicfury :)

If I had more to say, I'd break the convention, but I don't really.

Thanks. (seems like we say what we need via drawing and word balloons.) (yeah...I used via. sorry)

P.S. Anyone who comes across this, (and have a second to spare) Do you like my comics? I'm a stay at home dad (I raise my three year old because my wife's job promoted her before mine and daycare is horrible and expensive, and you never know when you're gonna go, so I want to spend as much time with him.) and I work the weekends at a crappy job.

So when I have down time I draw my comic "Don't Pray For Angels" but I wanted to do a comic a day, one where you don't have to get into a huge story line...like my first comic, my new one is "Don't Eat The Zombies"...but I was wondering (since you are all comic people too):
1. Does it being stick figure make some people disregard it?
2. Does the comedy work? Because people I know get it, but maybe it's because they know my sense of humor.
3. Side question: How many of you have ever sold a shirt or made a profit from this? I know it's a dream for some, but I do sell shirts (for Don't Pray For Angels) and want to team up with some others and make a website for a group of webcomic people (google Topatoco, but they're the elite pros of webcomics) No reason we can't do the same at a lower level. Imagine if every time a reader sees a comic they like that they see a link to the _______ Store, and see other comics they like all together selling merch.

Anyways, I feel like I'm wasting time (my life) if I'm not doing something productive, just wondering if anyone else feels this way. Send me a PM or respond here. Any input is welcome. Thanks for reading!
P.S. I really respect all the comics here. You guys all try your best and this community (even though I'm new) seems to really be great. If no one responds, I wanted to say at least that. Thanks again.

Just my opinions on these:

1. If you do it right (which means the writing is good, and you have done something to make the most out of what you can do with your art), stick Figures can work. My favorite webcomic is Rich Burlews Order of the Stick. Yup, its stick figure at its core, but he has turned it into something amazing.

2. The most common 2 bits of advice, and the most useful Ive received so far:

a)Dont spend your time talking about doing it, just get to the actual doing part.

b)Do what you do for yourself, and take pride in your work. The rest will work itself out.

3. A lot of people want to make a living at this. And there are a lot of people who in fact do. Ive never sold a T, or any other merch, I have sold some sketches, but to date thats as far as Ive gone with it.

Once Im up and running with my own stuff, I might just PM you about this.

As far as thinking that you are wasting your time or life or whatever, thats a personal question nobody can really speak to besides you, but being a stay at home parent makes me think you are definatly doing something incredibly important.

As far as doing comics, at the end of the day the one thing I cling to is something Henry Ford once said:

"Whether you think you can or think you cant, your probably right."

Thanks Draginbeard, I was a little loopy from cold medicine, still sick, when I wrote that. I appreciate the response. I always say I can do better. I think it's time. And I love to draw/write so I think I will for my own sake. Good luck with your projects too!
