"The Demon's Game", 23rd Apr 2012, 10:06 PM #1
===========
It was a typical day for the citizens of ComicFuryville. People walked around performing their daily routines, some stopping at stores to restock on supplies and others talking with their friends about normal stuff. A few looked up at the dark, cloudy sky with slight concern and quickened their paces before it began raining. Really, it seemed just like any other ominously dark and cloudy day.
Then there was the rumble of thunder, followed by a shower of strange pamphlets from the sky. Everyone slowly stopped what they were doing, looking up at the unnatural shower. A few caught the pamphlets in mid-air and began reading them:
"If you're reading this, then congratulations! Your town/city has been selected to be the location of this year's Demon's Game! This is a very big honor for all humans/animals/non-demons! However, this tradition happens to involve killing you, so yeah. Good luck!"
For a moment, no one spoke. Then a giant worm-like creature suddenly shot out of the ground and swallowed a random bystander in one gulp. At this point, everyone began panicking and screaming as they ran away from the demon, the shower of pamphlets completely forgotten. Only a few read the rest of what was written:
"As part of this age-old tradition, about 500 demons are invading your town with the intention of brutally murdering everyone they can. However, fortunately for you, there IS hope: they can't kill anyone who escapes. Naturally, we'll do our best to prevent this, and there are several traps set up, but still. Here's some other information:
-All demons have a quota of deaths they must fill. However, they don't have to stop killing after that; they can kill as many as they like.
-Some demons, when their quota is filled, get bored. They'll issue people special challenges that usually involve death, but there can be satisfying rewards!
-There are a few types of demons that can actually turn someone into one of their kind. The most famous examples would be vampires and werewolves, but there are plenty of obscure demon types unknown to humans. If a human is turned, they'll also have to fill a soul quota, and are thus encouraged to kill all nearby humans, even their friends. Depending on what type of demon turns them, they may lose all self-control, though, so this warning may be unnecessary.
-Of course, you're all allowed to fight back. However, as stated above, we have plenty of obscure demon types, and not all of them have necessarily "normal" anatomy. A strike to their chest can be the same as a strike to the leg, because they may have their heart in their elbow or knee.
-And finally, a warning... Not all demons look like demons. There are quite a few shapeshifters, and a few naturally look like humans. Even your closest friends, or the guy guiding you, could be a demon, leading you straight into their trap. If someone seems too confident, then there's always a chance that they're a demon. Be careful about who you trust!
That's all you need to know, so good luck escaping! Turn this pamphlet over to read in Spanish, courtesy of Google, the wonderful sponsor of this pamphlet. Remember, if you survive, always use Google!"

Additional information not found on the helpful pamphlet includes:
-Each phase will last varying amounts of time, depending on what happens in that phase and how complicated the choices are.
-Vegging can be deadly in this game. Normally there's a one-round grace period, but depending on the situation you're in (such as, say, being face-to-face with a giant man-eating worm-monster-thing), missing just one phase can kill you.
-Similar to Outbreak, every round you'll be given a set of up to four options. This can vary from person to person.
-You're encouraged to make alliances. If you enter an alliance, you'll be in a position to help each other out and still make independent choices. If one of you has to veg for one round, the alliance will also protect you from ever-deadly situations. The alliance can easily be broken.
-Everyone will start in the same area. Over time, you'll naturally break into smaller groups as you split off.
-Throughout all the phases, there are two options that will always be available but never mentioned: Commit suicide and Kill [name]. If, for whatever reason, you choose to kill someone, there's a 50% chance of failure, as well as a chance of you being mortally wounded in retaliation by your victim. If you fail to kill them, you're likely to be killed in retaliation.
-The goal of the game is survival, but just being the last one standing doesn't mean you win. You have to escape to survive, so that means we could have several winners or none at all.
This is the first game I'm hosting on ComicFury, so naturally I'm a bit nervous, but I hosted this once already on another site and it was pretty successful. If you have any questions, ask away; I may not answer them because it could be something that will be answered over the course of the game. Here's a sign-up sheet for everyone; the game will start when it's full. ^_^
