RG2Cents:I've only used my animated banners in my sig. Are these now against the rules? If so, I'll get them out of my signature...

I think these might be kind of a "subtle" level (though I personally think the aim should be calmer yet). I would say maybe signatures should be allowed giffed if they're subtle like the gif level in avis you're suggesting.

Yes. No animation in signatures at all. I do find it distracting, I know not everyone does, but people have to realize that different people have different levels of sensitivity to these things. The consensus seems to be "get rid of them" so yeah

Hokays! No animation in the siggy at all! Surgical transplant of GIFs with JPEGS a complete success! An amazingly painless operation! :D

welp, I personally really dislike moving signatures, so I have no problem against that. Animated avatars are fine, as long as I'm not going to get a seziure. :U

There's always going to be the one idiot who makes their avatar a seizure inducing, flashing mess. This is why GIFs should be banned for serious forums.

no it's not seziure inducing enough, you need to make it flashing and changing colours rapidly.

I don't believe it's a problem of any sort as long as it wouldn't cause seizures or anything. I haven't experienced anyone's avatar/sig (to my knowledge) that has bothered me. I think the whole thing for the sigs should be the same, because having animated (but not annoying, obviously) would help them get more views, potentially from other Comicfury users.

I'm with Sabrini's initial comment.

I won't complain if .gifs are forbidden as avatars or signatures. But the whole point of the main page is to advertise the latest updating comic. The whole point of those images are to go "Psst! Check me out!" If .gifs are out because they're too distracting and eye-catching, well, what about all the people who use adorable chibis, or big ol' boobs? WHERE DOES IT END?!! WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN

Edit: on a forum, things repeat A LOT. So while I wouldn't have thought of banning .gifs, I can totally understand why they'd be annoying in a sig or an avatar.

Uhm... maybe I am a little out of the loop on this, but I don't think such a broad, sweeping ban ought to be made like this. Why not just reserve your right as moderator to remove intensely obnoxious banners and avatars, regardless of their format?

I often feel reticent to post in these forums, due to an unawareness of these frankly somewhat arbitrary bans. Early in my time here, I posted a simple funny pic in the form of a demotivational poster and got blasted because they were apparently banned.

I guess, if you do ban them... maybe consider making a list somewhere of your forum rules?

is a sticky in the very forum you are posting in:

http://comicfury.com/forum/viewthread.php?id=8615

Yeah you got infracted, tons of people get infracted for posting memes/image macros/general behaviour issues when they first start posting. I don't see what the big deal is? It's not like you have to pay a monetary fine or get banned or anything, it's simply a little (usually) polite automated PM explaining what you did wrong, with no explicit repercussions.

The thing with this is that even slight movement can be very distracting, especially since if it's slight you don't "expect" it as much and it just grabs your attention in the same way that moment where you go "did that tree just talk?" would.

I don't know, I don't see that many animated signatures to begin with, but when I do, I usually scroll in such a way that they're not on my monitor (sometimes zoom in if I have to) -- the point is I shouldn't have to do that. I asked others if they feel it's a problem (in this thread) and apparently it is.

But the CF aren't serious, they're hilarious. Delirious.

Furious and mysterious.

(On topic I don't mind a ban on annoying GIF avatars (at the discretion of the moderator team). Banners being in the way of your reading, I don't mind a ban of all animation on those.)

Why don't we just have an option to turn off animated (And by that I mean all .gif) avatars and sigs on a per-user basis. I mean, its not like we don't already have a goddamn option for everything, what's one more.
