Meed stood forward, brandishing a small notebook. Others stood around, waiting for him to begin speaking. His frantic note-taking and attempted analysis had impressed some and intrigued others, and now they all waited for his conclusions. He cleared his throat, and began to speak.
"Now, there's only so much we can draw from all this. The deaths are different, they may even be deliberately constructed to throw people off. We know, however, that Capps died by some sort of poison. Which, to me, brings suspicious directly onto you, Neko."
The group turned to look at the small creature, which looked around in confusion. "Who, me? Why?"
"Well, from what you've said you're a physician, so you are probably the most knowledgeable among us when it comes to concoctions and medicines. That probably extends to poisons too. Not only that, but the strange nature of this poison and the strange nature of yourself," Meed eyed off the bulb on her back. "Point to a similar conclusion. You are most likely responsible for the death of Capps."
Neko sighed. She looked up and around at the group, which had gradually formed a circle around her, keeping her in. "I guess I should have done more to help the victims when I could… maybe then you'd have a bit more faith in me. I helped, but I guess I couldn't show that publicly. Are you sure this is what you want to do?"
The group exchanged glances, their doubts not enough to bring them to object. Rays of light from the setting sun hurried the decision, and each member nodded.
A white glow surrounded Neko as Sleepy, nominated to be responsible for the kill, stepped forward. It coalesced into the shape of a ghostly knight, which held it's shield up to block Sleepy's advance.
Neko looked up at the figure fondly. "That's enough, they've made their choice. It's my time."
"If you're certain." The figure replied without looking around. "But I am not completely under your command. Let me be the one to do it. Let me make it painless for you, or I shall not let them pass."
She smiled at the protective figure, hesitating for a moment before nodding. The figure blurred slightly, glowing brighter as it moved to cover the small, nervous Neko. As the last rays of the sun speared over the horizon, an explosion of brightly glowing light filled the room. As it cleared, the corpse of Neko became gradually visible.
A disembodied voice echoed softly throughout the room. "She only wanted to help…"
===========
Neko was the Wordy Agent of the God of Protection. Each night she could choose a person to protect, and they would be protected from interaction during the night. She was also unable to target the same player two nights in a row. Her trait prevented her from making posts less than 10 words in length.
It is now the Night Phase.
