Do you do some things you wish you did otherwise, could do otherwise, but keep doing in a way you don't really like anyway?
As the title says: a bad habit, that's only there because it's hard to break.

Personally, I do:

- I keep my pens way too long. At the end they seriously feel rough and the lessened control shows in the precision of the inking. Some lines have to be inked twice because they left ink-less gaps.
- Using the ruler in a very random way when drawing straight lines in backgrounds. Drawing the walls and furniture with the ruler... putting the ruler down a second to draw a rounded detail... continuing drawing straight lines, without picking the ruler up.

-Not letting things dry before moving on and smudging things or causing water colors to blend when they shouldn't.
-Rushing to get my inks done and messing up the detail in the pencils.
-Not erasing pencil lines that were no longer relevant and accidentally inking them.

Overcomplicating my dream of a panel before realizing the little ability i have will not cover the complexity of the artwork i can see in my mind and then abandoning all hope for the project through my frustration of not being able to do what I want and being unable to settle for measly attempts if i am not proud of the measly attempts made.

I mishandle nearly every tool I own in almost every possible way. No tool I own hasn't been split in half, misplaced, eaten by a bird, or something along those lines.
Also, procrastination.

I think my bad habits are not writing far enough in advance, and flying by the seat of my pants for the most part. I think the writing on our comic would be far better if I was able to get an entire chapter finished before it started being drawn.

-Letting myself get distracted by (big surprise) the Internet while using my tablet.
-Forgetting to write down good ideas when they first come to me.
-Also unable to keep a large buffer on my comic. Sooner or later, this will come back around and kick me in the rear.

Procrastinating, cheating (by taking shortcuts such as copy-paste), laziness, stagnation, not writing things out in as much detail as they need to be, ambiguity, forgetfulness, easily distracted, overcomplicating things, improvising too often, having no rules when drawing (no schedule, no plan, no idea, you get the idea), allowing myself to declare something's done when I know it still needs a ton of work...

Yeah, you could say I have a few. :P

I rush my artwork, and don't re-draw stuff when I know it looks clunky.

I have this small and insignificant habit of not saving my work every once in a while then my computer shutting down without warning and losing like 5 hours of work. giving me this nervous tic in my right hand when i hit walls (damaging my most important tool...my hand)

Also me living in a 3rd world country where we have 3 hour black outs twice a week doesn't help my anger issues at all :/

EDIT: Oh look my 200 post how lovely :D

Ctrl+S! Learn it! Then make it a nervous habit of hitting that every twenty seconds.

I swear, after learning that shortcut, now I save way too much.

Ahaha, damn. Well when I use a tablet, I usually have one hand drawing on my tablet and one hand on my keyboard (cause I'm usually alt+tabbing, cause I'm a distracted idiot), so it's almost involuntary for me to constantly be hitting ctrl+s.

Time.

Too many times have I lost hours of work due to GIMP crashing :'c

-Not having a buffer nor really trying to build one up.
-Always waiting for the day before update schedule to draw all of the page.
-Having games openly visible in the same thing I use to draw.
-then playing mario kart instead of drawing.
-Not drawing anytime I have direct access to a computer.

I also run into a number of the above problems, although my biggest seems to be that I do both too little planning and too much. When I'm scripting out my chapters, I have a clear idea in my head what that page should look like; as a result, my scripts are really only notes to help me recall the look of those pages, and they rarely make sense to anyone other than me. The too little planning part comes in where I have the tendency to make last-minute or even last-second changes to any given page when I get an idea that would work better than my original plan. As a result, panels are often combined or separated, perspective shifts, dialogue changes and sometimes whole characters are written in or out.

The planning too much part happens something like this: I have a complete picture of what I want the page to look like in my head before I even put fingers to keyboard, let alone pencil to paper. However, the mental image could be best described as being HD to the finished page's VHS-quality image, relatively speaking; there's a lot more detail and precision in the image I imagine than there is on the paper when I'm finished. While I'm getting better at knowing my limits, I'm often (and quite easily) intimidated by the intricacy of the mental image, and one of the things I tend to do whenever I find a task that's intimidating is to put it off until later, sometimes even days or weeks later (I once put off a page for six months in this fashion).

Then, of course, there are the times where I design something, and it looks awesome in my head (or even in my hands, since my design process tends to include building lego models of the subjects), but when it comes down to actually drawing the thing I find myself thinking, "what was I thinking when I designed this?" For example, all the various weird angles on the Kestrel, or the triangular radial symmetry of the Senshi (which appears in the current chapter; you get a sneak peek of it on the title page). I mean, I'd like to think that I've figured out how to draw Kestrels, but how the hell do you draw equilateral triangles reliably in perspective?
