"Armageddon Expo 2012 (a.k.a. poor quality NZ convention)", 1st Jul 2012, 9:17 AM #1
I thought I should make a thread about this. Because it was an event and it relates to comics and stuff.

THE TALE OF TRYING TO ADVERTISE AT A CON:
STORY TIME:
So Alex and I decided we should do some advertising of our comic.
So I made costumes of our characters for my cousins and I to wear so people would go: "Oh who are you" and then we'd give them a flyer.
These here flyers:

And here is what we looked like:

Also a bonus picture of me testing the Charlie costume and being a palm tree:

Okay so we went there. And it was so bad. It was freezing and so crowded and in some stables. Cause it was help at the raceway because we have no convention centers anymore because the earthquakes ate them all. So yeah. There weren't any horses there though.
Flyer handing out went... OKAY? I guess. People didn't really seem to care/got annoyed that we were trying to give them stuff. But a few people were nice about it and wanted a picture of/with me.
(I know him... but it counts anyway (hopefully find some more when people upload them)... Also look at the stable bits in the background. STABLES. Also Domo?)
And also my costume wasn't very comfortable to wear - the claws were a pain and having my eye covered was really annoying and hurt a bit. Also it was hard to eat food. And Alex had to brush my teeth for me in the morning (sorry Alex) as well as feed me lunch.
All round bad first day experience. We went home early. I was especially sad cause I'd spent so much time and money making the costumes. ALSO! My thumb claw broke and I was freaking out all day that the crack in it would make the tip fall off (my friend who was working at the special effects make-up stall tried to glue it with magic stuff you use to glue stuff to your face, but it didn't work really).
This is me being sad that I was in pain and sad all day (taken off eye thing and I look like the Joker):

DAY 2: Actually something good happened.
I didn't buy anything or dress-up, or hand out any flyers on day two, but! I did talk to the guy who was at the New Zealand comics table! And he looked at a print-out we had of Nothing Fits and said it looked really good and gave us a card to come join in with their group and stuff. He said if, when it's finished, print like 150 copies and give them some that they could sell them at events and stuff like he was doing there. And YEAH.
So advertising: Fail.
Possible future place to sell our comic: Achieved!

LOOK AT THAT. LOOK AT THAT LOGO. These guys must be good.
The end.

A girl (the Korra one) who added me on Facebook after last years 'Geddon (who I didn't actually meet there, but I did see her from afar... How did she know me to add me????) who does lots of cosplay, I took a picture of her and her friend:

My friend standing in front of the lady, cause she looked cool and we didn't want to look like we were taking a photo of her:
