I'm interested to see what you guys would say are must watch movies/television shows, must play video games and must read books/comics. Basically what your favorites of each are.

For me (Off of the top of my head...)
Movies: Back to the Future, Up, Rocky Horror Picture Show.
TV Shows: Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, Peep Show, Arrested Development.
Video Games: Super Mario Brothers 3, Rhythm Tengoku, Banjo-Kazooie.
Books: Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

I'll come back to add more later...

You should play Machinarium. It's harder than it looks, trust me. (That or I'm stupid. Or distracted by the prettiful art and music.)

Bwahahah, Rocky Horror Picture Show. That movie is hilarious.

I have a feeling that I'm not going to be able to think of anything, but I'll give it a shot. Be warned that I don't actually consume a lot of media, so a lot of my "must-sees" are kind of dated.
OKAY HERE WE GO.

Movies: The Princess Bride (NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE HAVE SEEN THIS.) I highly recommend old movies like Charles Chaplin flicks and black and white horror movies. (Little Barber Shop of Horrors is hilarious, and so is The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Seriously, you haven't lived unless you've seen the classics.)
Tv Shows: I haven't had cable tv in 3 years, so uh...
Books: The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
Video Games: The original PC games for Doom and Duke Nukem. Also, the Prince of Persia trilogy (but don't bother playing anything after the movie came out because it's all fanservice crap.) And ANYTHING from the NES is a must-play, because c'mon.

The "must reads":

Books:
1984 - George Orwell
Fahrenheit 451 - Ray Bradbury
Make Room! Make Room! - Harry Harrison

Not because I think that they're tremendous pieces of literature, but because of where the world has/is headed in relation to their outcomes.

Movie:

Please fill in the blanks with one of the following adjectives of your choice: Beautiful, Epic, Amazing.
The Falls is a/n BLANK movie. BLANK story. BLANK visuals. BLANK costumes.
Its simply incredible.

Honorable Mentions for Films: Godfather part one and 2, Blade Runner, Lawrence of Arabia, and The Seventh Seal. Personally I enjoyed these films more then the Fall, but this is a must watch list and not a "favorites" list.

TV:

No explanation needed.

Honorable Mention: Firefly

Reads:
Nedroid
Its pretty funny, pretty accessible, and it has a bear and potato hybrid.

Honorable mentions: Battle Royale, The Far Side, some Sherlock Holmes.

Video Games:
Pretty recent, but Bastion.
One of the best games I have played in a while, and before anyone says it there is more to it then just the Narrator, and stop calling that a gimmick.

Honorable mentions: At least one mario game (has to be a platformer) and Tetris.

Albums:
Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars

Its David Bowie at his best. No further explanation.

Honorable Mentions: the soft bulletin by the flaming lips, and anything by the Mountain Goats.

Movies: Gonna give a very classic list here.
- The Graduate
- Harold and Maude
- The Big Lebowski
- Paper Moon
- Jurassic Park (if you haven't seen it; I met so many people who haven't seen it! What the hell is up with that?!)

TV Shows:
- Sherlock BBC - only 6 episodes, but each episode is 90 minutes long.
- Arrested Development
- Paranoia Agent (if you're up for some actually decent anime)

Video games:
- Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (PC/Mac). Because it's the best motherflipping Star Wars game out there.
- Hotel Dusk (DS)

Albums:
- Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion ... if you're up for something just plain surreal/mind tripping

It was just mentioned in Chatzy, but when it comes to comics, Maus is an absolute must. Watchmen is also often considered as a must-read, and I guess I agree, it's a good study on the nature of heroes and has some interesting symbolism.

Personally I also feel Eisner's Spirit and heck, all of his works, and Herge's Tintin are also must reads for any comic fan, not just for the fact that they're brilliant stories and beautifully drawn, but also as good examples and study pieces of comics' dynamics things like flow and implying movement and impact.

And of course, Eisner's and McCloud's books on comics in general are also must reads.

Webcomics:

WormWorld Saga. Nuff said.

Freaking love this movie. From what I understand, the little girl didn't exactly know she was acting, so in the hospital scenes she's completely genuine.

Which reminds me, Lee Pace is also in Pushing Daisies which is an excellent TV series to watch. It's the cutest, most quirkiest show I've ever seen.

Other recommendations:
Watch the 2011 movie Winnie The Pooh
A Very Potter Musical (and other Starkid performances)
Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends
TiMER

Read We've Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson (or anything by her)
The Fault in Our Stars and/or Paper Towns by John Green

Must Watch:
2001: A Space Odyssey, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Apocalypse Now, The Exterminating Angel, This is Spinal Tap, Citizen Kane (of course), Princess Mononoke, [I could go on but I don't have all day]

Must Play:
Chrono Trigger (of course), Super Mario Bros. 1-3 (of course), Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy VI, Dragon Quest III, Mother, Earthbound (Mother 2), Mother 3, Super Metroid, Braid, Cave Story, [Again, I really could go on all day, but I don't have all day]

Must Read:
The Bible (although I'm not religious, denying its importance and greatness is just stupid), The Idiot, The Brothers Karamazov, The Man Who Was Thursday, Krazy Kat, Maus, V for Vendetta, The Trial, The Metamorphosis, Jacques the Fatalist, [How I could go on here...]

The film Cinema Paradisio. The comic strip Pogo. To the book list I'd add Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea, The giving Tree by Shel Silverstine and In Watermelon Sugar by Richard Brautigan.
