"One year of comicfury!", 11th Jul 2009, 7:00 PM #1
Wow, yeah. Can you believe it? The site is now a few days older than a year.
In one year, we got over 10000000000 members (base 2) many smaller site updates and a major one. The forums keep becoming more and more active and we have about 650 webcomics now. That means we basically got 2 webcomics every single day, if they were distributed evenly over the year. That's nowhere near as good as what the major hosts are doing, but I am quite proud regardless. These days, we get multiple members every day and the community just keeps growing. We keep adding features and layouts and are continuing in our position as self-proclaimed underdog webcomic host. We can do it!
Of course the site would have gone nowhere without the people who helped. I want to specifically mention some of you who helped;
Ash from thewebcomiclist.com for giving me some free ad space. He's the man.
Cyborg, for his wonderful guide and eagerness to help the community
Jeff (AFStaff) for his generally not doing anything, but always doing something. You and me, we will write that book!
All of my users and friends who helped building the site by giving me feedback, suggestions and reporting bugs
Those who helped when I first founded the site and money was short.
Everyone who is doing layouts and/or translations for the site
and everyone who I didn't mention, but did something helpful
But enough about the past, let's look in the future:
I mentioned this in the layout guide thread, but I am looking to simplify layout building.
I want to make a help/tutorial section soon
ComicFury in several languages, this too is in the works.
I have many many other things planned which I've mentioned before, and I'm too lazy to mention them again. This is already a wall of text.
Let's hope the second year for comicfury will be just as nice, and we will evolve to a community with thousands of people, so that the first 1000 we have now can be elitist about being here first. (In your face, everyone! I was here first!)
Future thousands of members reading this, don't be sad. You can still be elitist about having a massive post/comment/referrer/profile view count
