Not a new movie by any stretch, but I recently re-watched War of the Gargantuas on Netflix. I've always enjoyed giant monster movies.

You should not have done that.

The problem with these movies is the director just sits for a while and says "how can I make this more fucked up" and it ends up being random gore fest.

Or sandpaper masturbation

And Barb-Wire rape.
And newborn's head being squished.

:OOOOOOOOOO

And...
I can't even pretend to know what to say about that movie.

Yeah, my mother bought it on DVD and made all the family sit down and watch it. Seriously.

My parents did that with the first Terminator movie when I was about ten. I was crouched outside the door screaming "IT'S RATED 18, I CAN'T WATCH IT" but they pretty much just told me to stop whining and watch the damn movie. o_o

Are you complaining about your parents? I can't really tell.

(If I have a 10 y/o daughter I'd totally let her watch Terminator. Except that little scene near the end. I'll just let her know that they had sex but they weren't intoxicated, they used protection, and under no circumstances would they ever record it on webcam.)

Currently watching Rio. I can see why it seemed to fail in theaters, but it's not that bad. Specially because of...

I just watched the original Dawn of the Dead and tomorrow I'm going to the mall it was filmed in, just for the hell of it.

I'm gonna wedge myself awkwardly in here.

I just watched Blood Simple by the Coen Brothers. I don't recommend it. (But I do recommend Raising Arizona!)

OMG! Raising Arizona! I love that movie! As far as I'm concerned it's in the top five of Cage's best roles. It's funny, awesome, heartwarming, and just an all-around good movie.

Haven't seen Blood Simple yet. O Brother, Where Art Thou is on my playlist at the moment...for like the third time.

Raising Arizona was definitely one of Nicholas Cage's best roles. I guess if you really really like the Coen Brothers, you should give Blood Simple a shot, but I personally didn't like it very much. The narrative was a bit hard to follow and I didn't like any of the protagonists. But that just might be me, it got critical acclaim and has like a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes. XP

Yeah... "some"...

>_>

As a side note, just watched The Hunger Games. Strangely, to me the ending seemed rushed. In a freakin' 2 and a half hour movie. Why is that?

I noticed that Troma has been uploading full-length movies to its Youtube channel, so those are definitely on my radar.

I loved Blood Simple, but I'm more into their darker, neo-noir stuff (ie Miller's Crossing, No Country for Old Men, Fargo) than their all-out comedies. I guess it's a matter of preference.

I have yet to see No Country for Old Men (I know, shameful), but I think I'm going to watch it about 2 weeks from now. A number of people I know dislike Blood Simple, but adore No Country for Old Men. I have no idea why.

No Country is right up there with Fargo, but I really enjoyed Burn After Reading, which is a comedy but very well done. Malkovich is hilarious, and to see Brad Pitt playing
an air-head, a paranoid Clooney and of course McDormand is brilliant as always. I gave it
a 5 on the Moizmeter.

Seconded!

Fargo and Burn After Reading should be in everyone's Top 10!

Had to re-watch the Breakfast Club for Film Studies. It's cheesy, but I love it.

Nah, I ain't complaining (They actually turned it off half way through because I got a bit upset when Arnie tore his arm open) but I rewatched it again another day and it's now one of my favourite movies, and actually I don't really think I had taste in films before they showed it to me. So I'm thankful really.
