I'd had a hard time finding it in HMV but all of a sudden my mum comes home from shopping like "Look what I bought!". But yes, I highly recommend.

I love that film. The outfits and environments are just so beautiful.

This is not a movie but, I just came back from the musical Wicked.
Loved. Every. Single. Second.
This coming from a guy who doesn't like musicals much, watched 3 in his entire life (including this one), don't like most songs in Disney movies, and was bored to death watching Sweeney Todd (though others who like musicals had the same reacton).
I'm a new convert for Broadway musicals. Well, some. I have to like the subject matter. Lion King's next on my list.

Wicked the musical is awesome. I saw a show where the lead Elfaba was sick, and the understudy just gave forth such quality you couldn't tell.
But Wicked the book is terrible and fucked up and a mistake.

When you watch Sweeney Todd, don't do it with the movie. Do it with Angela Lansbury or a full italian cast of awesome.

Also Camelot can be an awesome production to see if you get great actors, as I've seen it probably three times, where two were bleh, one was great.

It really depends on the cast for a musical to be good. I saw an awesome production of Bye Bye Birdie once so you never know what could happen. :U

The lion king musical is awesome. It is just such a production and the animal costume/puppets are so interesting.

Last musicals I really remember enjoying were, in the order I saw them:

1) Cannibal!: The Musical. Made by the same team behind South Park. Let's build a snowman!

2) Sweeney Todd. I dunno why, just something hit me on a comedic level. I watched it for laughs.

3) The Nostalgia Critic's review of Moulin Rouge. At the first time I watched it (Day of release) I had not laughed myself to running tears in a long time. I had to keep pausing it to catch my breath.

Generally...I don't do musicals. But I suppose no matter what ones loves or hates, there is always an exception or three.

I couldn't agree more, that book was terrible! I was really disappointing, I went and saw the musical and was like: "Oh this may be a good book"

NOPE!

Man I just hated it, every character was a major whore for some reason.

My favourite musical is still The Producers, because it pokes so much fun at the absurdity of musicals. :D AND NOW, FOR NO REASON, A RIDICULOUS SONG AND DANCE NUMBER!

Pu-239- Paddy Considine, Radha Mitchell. Russian nuclear worker gets lethal dose
of radiation in an accidental exposure. Terminal, he steals some plutonium to sell on
the black market to provide for his wife and young son. Not a cheerie tale, but quite
well done. I'd watch Ms. Mitchell in anything. Gave it a 3 1/2 on the Moizmeter.

The only two musicals I really like are Rocky Horror and Little Shop of Horrors. Rocky is absolutely crazy and fantastic at the same time, it makes no sense and that's why I love it. (Timewarp anyone) Little Shop is just because I love the dentist character.

Didn't rock my world or anything but it was fun enough. Simon Pegg is one of my favorite actors.

Watched Cabin in the Woods yesterday. Holy. Crap. I think I found my new favorite horror film, if you can even call it a horror.

A Chinese Ghost Story

I was so happy i found this old film on Amazon last week, and on Blu Ray especially! This film was one of my all time favorite films back when i was a teen (it's in fact the very first asian film i had ever seen) and i really wanted to see how awesome it would look in HD. I used to watch it in french everytime it played on one of my province's channels but never saw it dubbed in any other language or even subbed for that matter. I remember how everytime i was in a video store, i'd look everywhere to try and find it. But alas, i never did find it until last week.

Oh boy did it bring back so many memories, all joyous, every single one. Unfortunately though, it was only subbed in english and wow... i guess someone that actually spoke english was too expensive to hire for the translation. But still, as hard as it was to follow (read), this film is truly a spectacle to behold. It very much has a smokey 80ies feel along with the sound technology they had back then, i just felt like i was leaning back into an old cherished blanket i found while rummaging through the attic. It's so hard to describe or even to compare to a single film. I'd say it's a mix between Ridley Scott's Legend, Evil Dead and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.

A must see for all 80ies and asian film enthusiasts! POYE POLOMI!!!

That's twice or thrice now that i've heard it was amazing, even for musical haters. Hmmm...

I finished the 6th season of Doctor Who. Amazing as always :D. Anyone know how to get the 7th season? (Or at least the Christmas Special for the 6th season :S)

The Prestige.
I loved it. My favorite Christopher Nolan movie by far.
I have no idea why I had never heard of it until recently.
