Smackjeeves is only one guy, I know this much. Dan can be a pretty cool guy but I don't think he really cares much anymore about Smackjeeves beyond it being a source of income. Can't really blame him too much either

Kyo:maybe the fact that I'm the genius designer behind the earlier comicfury layouts is showing but I really don't find the colors of the forum that eye burning. Then again, I always have really low contrast on my computer screens because I find that too bright screens hurt my eyes in general.
what bothers me more when reading the forum is that in actual threads, there is like no layout. quotes are barely distinguished from posts, posts are right alinged (i went into a thread with a bunch of short posts and went like "where are the posts?!") and there's not a single pixel space between posts and forum border. Looks weird.
It takes a long time to code a site from the ground up, having done so myself. I remember I spent ages on CF2k, the first major update and months kinda just went by with me not feeling like coding something that already exists over again. I learned not to rush the release anyways. My guess is that LeachyPeachy was pressured from above, so I doubt it's his fault that the site is so unfinished. I mean really, how long did he have to code this site? Like a month? The guy probably has other things to program as well so I'm not surprised he wasn't able to do it all, only one human after all. Not like this is his hobby and he can just sit in his room all day coding the site like I did sometimes, ignoring real life and responsibilities.
edit: the amazon servers are only for comic images, afaik. not everything. and a 502 can really just be a misconfiguration or overload, so it is the servers fault, but not necessarily out of control from the guys behind the servers.

The way they talk is that it's a team and the site has been in the works for months, probably more like six than one.

dumok:Okay Now I am annoyed....I have to dig up the images for my web-comics or I have to start over...meh I was thinking about a reboot anyway...
Sooo... how many reboots have you done now?!
What happened to your comics? I was able to find Monster Lover DP pretty easily over there. The User Control Panel only shows your first few comics by default; in order to see the rest you need to click that little [MORE] button.

A Call to Destiny was only rebooted twice, once when ArteestX was helping me out(he is a really great guy), then I decided to rework the story.
Monster Lover was rebooted only once...mainly because the story got stuck.
The thing is I cant access my own work because of the stupid age filter. (Damn lazy parents)

So if you're using Firefox there chances are that all the site's layout gonna be messed up (buttons and images and text everywhere on pile of each other) and not be able to correctly edit your comic layout. That last bug is apparently going on with IE as well. And they don't even know if it's gonna be fixed or not...
I'd complain on the forums, but I can't post anything. I'd complain on Get Satisfaction, but last time I did it spammed my email like crazy. So yeah, unless they make up for it big time and soon, I'm making my main site on CF as soon as my layout is decent.

I honestly didn't think I had been optimistic, but I must have been because I am SO disappointed. nah -- after 3 months it feels more like disgust.
I had the impression there was a team of 3 or so: an srdht guy, leachy Lawrence ("I don't want to sound like I'm talking corporate, I just do. I want your honest feedback -WHAT, you slime! you gave me honest feedback!! Don't you know I've only had 10 hours sleep during the past 2 weeks?!) and the 3rd guy escapes me.
OK, so I shouldn't pick on leachy because he was the wowio advance guard and I agree with whoever guessed he had marching orders.
They had an old site made up of tinker toys, gum, band aid and spit. It kept falling down. And Wowio wanted to market a winning webcomic site AT THE SAME TIME.
ooooooo - Too bad how inconvenient all those GD DD artists and community members are/were. "Drunk"? horrors -- That's not PC! (am I dense -- since when are webcomics in general suppose to be "PC"? isn't one of the beauties of any comic is its uniqueness?
Aaaah. NO!! unique's no good -- why, that would mean custom html!
and the programmer had the GALL to write in "getsatisfaction" that there had been only two complaints about the color scheme (in "getsatisfaction") because Wowio could not be bothered to go into the main site and read the 2 or 3 threads where dozens complained about the color for months.
I like the DD people and community. Guess that's why I'm here now.

Yeah, I've been looking at it a bit, just superfically, and pretty much all parts of the layout seem broken. Why they chose to release it at this state is beyond me, they pretty much replaced something broken with something differently broken. First impressions matter immensely. They really should have waited until it was done, and not give people half a car as a replacement for a car that occasionally broke down

He didn't have a month he had over six. They started recoding everything back when they tried and failed to move to the new layout last year, November, wasn't it.
oh and the only thing that doesn't seemed to be screwed by the CSS is the ads, go figure.

"The Duck stinketh"
a poem by yours truly
Apoplectic colors
blind the eyes
once sensitive
the artist once
at ease with mixing RGB CMYK
goes grayscale,
for his color cones were seared.
And shrinkage, oh the shrinkage!
an image once 1876x2226 px
now shriveled, resized, resampled,
rendered moot, illegibly small.
Is anything left of the GOOD DD?
no? anything at all?
I shed a tear,
I gently weep
I deeply sympathize
with those who cannot muster strength
to make the break
tear the umbilical
untie the apron string
leap the fence
slip the collar
and run free to...
greener?
--no, certainly not--
but fresher, safer pastures.
But I
I am here,
raging in my anguish,
from the safety of the sanctuary
called comic fury.
but my fury is not so comic.
it is green. lime green
like a bad polyester suit
handed down from a 70's dad.
green as only a thing can be
that escaped a drowning in the
nauseating sea of an algae'd pond
where dwells but one foul fowl
the foulest of foul fowls,
the duck.

And now I'm pissy about this because I have no possible way of logging it, my username and password being quite long and apparently not fitting their "case sensitive"-ness right.
And I still haven't gotten word back from a designer/admin/ANYONE.

Or you could quit getting your hopes up, because nothing is going to change. This may come as a shock to you, but Drunk Duck has never done anything but get worse.
