JustNoPoint:I can't believe how quiet it is over there now O_O
I mean I know why and understand it. It's just kind of weird for me. The only activity in the forums are the few people still actually posting about problems. I guess the realization of what is really happening over there is finally kicking in for me. After everything that we went through with Platinum it's hard to believe that someone wanting to give the site some attention could actually be so detrimental. :(
It's a shame. I think Wowio have genuinely tried to do a good job and I do feel sorry for them.
Unfortunately, when a changeover that was supposed to happen over a four-day weekend takes more than two weeks and actually shuts the site down
completely for most of that time, you have to be doubly sure that you maintain excellent communications with your users.
And
that's where I feel it's all gone horribly wrong. It's not just that deadlines were repeatedly missed, it's that Wowio left everyone in the dark for far too long each time. I have no doubt the techy guys were all beavering away like crazy trying to fix everything, but the PR guys really dropped the ball. They should have been managing user expectations and ensuring a steady stream of info on a daily basis to keep everyone onside.
But DD has always bounced back in the past and I sincerely hope it does so this time, as well. I have very fond memories of the community there, and it would be a great shame if it were to disappear.
They will need to scrap that God-awful colour scheme, though!
;-)
