Yeah, having loyalty to the site because of the people that are still holding onto it is not invalid at all. It's hard to just up and abandon "friends" you may have on there. More so the more you network with people and join community projects. The best thing I can hope is that they all slowly let go on their own and come over here so I can interact with them more again.
Insulting them for wanting to be around people they like and people that don't come off as an arrogant ass when they have a differentiating opinion makes sense.
if Drunk duck was a bar ,
at first it was a small tavern to hang out with the locals, the drinks were decent and cheap.
then it burned down and was rebuilt in 2006
then the original owner sold it to some out of town investors who tried some different ideas , the drinks were watered down and the urinal oveflowed a lot. the owners were nowhere to be found . you put up with it because thats where you had been hanging out for years and all your friends were there and the barkeepers were friendly .
for many years it just declined , not too many people seemed to mind the cockroaches.
then it got sold to Starbucks .
there would be no alchohol and a strict dresscode.
halfway through remodeling , starbucks went bankrupt and stopped answering the phone.
whatever memories you have of the place , who wants to hang around a half finished franchise coffee shop and drink cold coffee ?
Kyo:Nah, it's understandable, this thread has been pretty vicious at times. Maybe someone should tell them to look beyond it though, since this thread has pretty much died down and I do like to think we have a pretty nice community going on 'round here
I just found this thread going through the forums. I guess I'm blissfully ignorant of any drama surrounding this site or any other site. I found Comic Fury first, decided to put down some roots, become active on the forums, promote our fledgling endeavors into web comics and generally be a good neighbour.
But what this thread has done has made me aware of those other sites. I've gone over to Drunk Duck and Smack Jeeves to look around and read some more comics. That can't be a bad thing.
(with Custom HTML capabilities -- had to throw that in there.)
Too little, too late. The people that got scared off when the HTML was taken away have already left.
I'm sure more people would comment on it over at the duck, if the forum wasn't such a useless thing. Yeah, that was a great idea. Let's change the text editor, with some broken crap that takes away half the features that the users were used to, while the other half doesn't work, half the time.
Don't take anything I said personally or there'll be hell to pay.
Cynicism is worthwhile as a survival mechanism but not as a way of life. Because if you don't care, why should anyone care about you?
I still host over there but I'm actually a few pages farther ahead over here because it's so much easier to update the comic here.
For a community project I started a new comic over on the Duck and might even update it. It's only a hosting website, it's not like I've invested money in it or something. I can make arrangements to keep in touch with the community outside of the failing DD forums.
Why have a post editor that doesn't load until after you've typed your post and force you to type it all over again?
"... one of the finest, grumpiest most cynical people in the known universe."
