Today I woke up at 4PM.

.... I didn't sleep THAT late.
Though maybe I should start sleeping earlier than usual.... no more late-night drawing pfft.

So Sunday, I predictably was beginning to feel slightly better, and did some small activities which helped improve my mood a lot. Small TVTropes editing, playing some awesome (and heartwarming) games, things like that.

When I woke up Monday, I felt refreshed, energized, and for some reason, quite happy--it felt like I could be productive. Was I? ...Nah, I slacked off. :P
And I continued slacking off yesterday.

And last night...I had a weird dream. (I'll post about it in the appropriate thread--basically, I've been playing too many RPGs, combined with extreme heat during the night and my cramped sleeping space to give an...interesting...combo.) The result of the sink-or-swim learning within, however, left me feeling surprisingly good today. During the dream (semi-lucid in nature, mind you), I swore I'd wake up feeling like I had gotten no sleep at all, and even if I did, that I'd crash later into the day.

...Quite the opposite, I woke up feeling more refreshed than I have all week, feeling even better than I did on Monday, and feeling like I could actually get stuff done today and be productive. I've already began the work which I was supposed to have started on Friday, so we'll see how things go from there.

First day on a new (temporary) job, worked for 9 hours today. Feels good, man.

My boss is also an insanely good cook.

Just finished reading Preacher book one, good comic I guess, bit MAN its it fucked up and morbid. Not gonna but the next book, especially at 50$.

Today I worked out most the kinks with this venue and a gig near the beginning of September which puts me in a better mood, and started to get a friend of mine out of his shitty music slump by introducing him to bands that if he was listening to, he would see a way to take his voice and guitar and piano and etc skills and apply it, as for these two years after graduation he's struggled to get a hold on.

This will make me extremely happy if he can think through and use his talents unlike he has been lately, because he's one of those friends of mine that if they stopped limiting themselves and saw where they could exceed, they would be one of the most amazing musicians around.

This is a silly thing but something I'm very happy to see come out of just showing him a couple of bands he'd always tried to do a sound like but never actually known that he could/was trying to.

Today, there was a free pool day at a local pool that for some reason, was just sitting out in the middle of a corn field. It just opened this summer, and my mom said that they had reached capacity within an hour of the pool opening. It was looking like a great, long afternoon. And then someone shit in the pool.

Which, I guess didn't matter to me since we were leaving when it happened, but there were 7 or 8 people in the locker room on the way out heading in, and they were pissed when they found out.

Today, I launched a few massive rants about TVTropes (in particular, the Werewolf pages), decided that I should stop complaining and actually do something productive, did some editing to the Werewolf pages (everything except the main page, really--I considered adding CMOF/Tearjerker/Nightmare Fuel pages, but didn't because that'd require research, something I am too lazy to do, though I definitely think we have enough for all three pages to justify making them), and feeling in a good mood after that, decided to take a stab at revising my own TVTropes page.

Not even CLOSE to finished. Not even to the Cs, in fact. (My trope page is long enough that it's divided into four folders. Folders!) But dang, it feels good.

Today I got our poor injured stray cat to eat just three feet away from me when I fed her outside. This is a huge thing as she is so timid, it used to be she wouldn't even come near the house if we were anywhere nearby. But she has an injury to her leg (I suspect she got in a fight with another cat) and if I take her in to the shelter the will probably euthanize her as they do that to cats they can't adopt out and I don't think she is adoptable. So I don't know what to do, but the leg has gotten more swollen, which means that it is infected, so I guess I am calling the shelter tomorrow to see what they think.

Which is sad because I have tried so hard to get her friendlier. She's not even my cat, but the whole thing just has me so sad. I hate stupid animals and their ability to make me cry.

WEnt food shopping despite a knee that really hurt and an ongoing desire to throw up. Oh and I also discovered Keynote NF and Freeplane.

Oh lord, is that actually a word? What was wrong with kill, or murder, or slaughter? Those words were probably 'redacted', which definitely doesn't mean 'censored because we don't want you to know'.

It is a word, at least in the US. Used when you humanly kill something, usually an animal, though you would can certainly also use it for a person who chooses assisted suicide. I could say "put to sleep" but that is even sillier. The reason for the distinction is to differentiate it from other situations as it is really only used in cases of more gentle deaths and for humane reasons.



I know, I still don't know what to do because I kind of love the cat.

Do everything you can to save it.

If that's not enough, then know you did everything you could.

If it is enough, then do everything you can to keep the cat in your life.

Concussions are called "Traumatic brain injuries" and shellshock is referred to as "Post Traumatic Stress Disorder."
People do this all the time.

So I've decided that I'm gonna do it too.
It's not assault, it is "anger-related closed-fist striking."
It's not arson it's "Physical state reduction through combustion."
It's not a murder, it's "Application and injection of 12 inches of cold motherfucking steel into forehead."

Gotta soften up those terms, man. We wouldn't want a word to actually reflect that which it applies to, now would we?

Though traumatic brain injuries is used to more differentiate different types of brain injuries, namely those from trauma (like a blow to the head) for other brain injuries like those that might be caused by a stroke.

Eh, that may be, but when I was boxing, I got several concussions. Usually, doc just said "You have a concussion, go home, and stay awake."

But one doctor called it a "Traumatic Brain Injury."
He then went on to describe what he meant by this. It took him ten minutes to tell me that my brain was shaken up and possibly slightly bruised due to getting punched really freaking hard.
To which I replied, "So... Concussion?"

He then spent the next ten minutes explaining the difference between TBI and a concussion. And yet, everything he cited as a 'difference,' every bit of information he used to 'prove me wrong...'

It all came back to concussion.
As we left the hospital, my coach leaned over and whispered into my ear, "What an asshole. That was dumb as hell."
I leaned back and replied quietly, "Bigtime."

In that case that is stupid. Concussions and traumatic brain injuries are really the same thing (though traumatic brain injuries is more of a blanket term).

I think they try to use TBI more now as some people take it more seriously than a concussion because it sounds more serious.

I ate a jr. cheeseburger from wendys today and now i'm craving a soda like crazy even though i haven't touched one in months. :/ I swear to god they lace their burgers.

Also at work they had large bottles of wine for .49c! Not even kidding, bought 4 of those suckers.

Today, it was 100 degrees here for the first time in years, so naturally, I made some nachos, sat down, and stayed in front of the A/C all day.

Went to the Texas Museum of Automotive History today with my gearhead boyfriend. Lots of cool cars! Wish my pictures had turned out better though.
