Webcomic description

So; A centaurian bouncer, a tomboy sheep, a bearded human, a squishy thing, a transgender ghost, and a dog in severe need of a shirt walk into a bar. The bouncer walks up to the bar, and orders a drink. The manager chides him and the others on being late to work, and then some sort of punchline occurs. I dunno. I'm working on it.

Bar'd is a 2009 sprite comic, that originally started on Smackjeeves. It found a medium level of popularity during it's time, albeit infrequent updates lead to waning attention, both from the audience and it's author.
Now on Comicfury, it's being re-uploaded, bit by bit - including the perhaps somewhat cringier earlier issues. Once all that was written has been reuploaded... well... we'll perhaps see what the future holds.

This comic consists largely of gag-a-day style humour, with an emerging overarching plot, as well as the occasional few-and-far-between action sequence. Oh, and I guess some drama too? Set within a modern fantasy world, the content draws on various other genres for a real mixing pot of a world. With cameos.
If you don't know what you want from your comics, then by god, this comic may or may not have something for you. Maybe.

I have historically made comics. This has been oftentimes questionable and regrettable in equal parts.

I was just thinking about this page a week ago!
Happy Halloween!
Close enough?

Fun fact about this page - the 'well technically' of the matter is that... well, according to the creators of Okami, Amaterasu isn't female. Rather, they're... well, a deity, a concept. Officially speaking, they're genderless, just with she/her pronouns.
Not that I think this fact at all would've stopped 2009 me from making this comic.

Worth noting, this is the last page before the comic was hit by a couple of big changes. Oh yeah, I was about to start trying to make this comic seem halfway presentable!

So apparently back in the day, the big debate over this page was whether or not Vas was gay and if 'Billie' was his boyfriend.
This was a surprisingly drawn-out debate, considering that in the previous page he referred to them as his 'girlfriend'. Still, considering all the Cintreuse shenanigans back in the day... I mean perhaps it wasn't that far-fetched.

Still, this is another important page! It references a fair bit of Vas' history and establishes it to the audience, as well as throwing out a few things which would feed into the future. Indeed, I believe this is the first mention of Tsurugi anywhere in the comic, who'd show up a few times in the future!

...It also features Vas in the end really not putting the effort in. I'd like to think he later went back and organised sending an actually decent letter, but from the comic itself... wow it sounds like he really went low-effort on the message in the end. Not a good look.

You know I had to do it to them.
So here we are! Pay-off to the BRARGH joke - or at least, the originally planned pay-off to it. Obviously more was to come later!

Also, ohey, this page is actually super important! Setting up Billie was a slow-burn plotline, one of the slowest that Bar'd really ran. In fact... it never even reached the penultimate plans I had in place for it!
If only Bar'd had ran for another 26 pages, something more was coming from this... and I'm sure I'll explain that in time.
For now however? Vas is getting help to write a letter. Isn't that nice? c:

Ohey, I did it! I made a funny with the title. Sorta kinda. Double meanings and such. Yeah!
...Yeah not much to say on this one I'm afraid, other than wow Shelia just casually dangling that money over the counter there. Very little regard for paper currency it seems.
