Comic description

A loving parody of the romance genre and yaoi but with burly men instead of bishie boys.

It's a prequel to my Smoke, Fur And Stone series but doesn't interfere with current canon.

Chasing Ice contains language, sex, occasional violence and LGBT relationships. Recommended for mature readers only.

Both Skoll and Caliban are physical people. So it's easier for them to express their mutual tenderness physically.

They tend to stumble with it comes to verbalizing feelings (Cal because he battles to translate his thoughts into human words, Skoll because he associates talking about feelings with weakness.)

But they can say a great deal with their bodies.

Well, at the end of the day, they are Skins after all. Hearts and flowers only go so far with horny beastmen.

When they finally get down it, things get....feral. But don't worry, we'll return to your regularly scheduled sparkles soon.

Notes: Most Skins need to shed their skins to change forms. But they do still partially shift in response to danger or excitement.

A slightly different side to Cal here. It's not often we get to see the animal under the blushing country boy exterior. He may need his teeth and claws if their "visitor" interrupts them.

Ah, one's first relationship. You never see the complications until it's too late.

In the case, the complications being a sinister creature watching from a distance.

Notes: Most Skins have to shed their skins in order to change forms. Skoll is one of the few who can shift forms without doing so (although he can't always control it.)

This is largely an Alpha trait (which explains why there's so much tension between him and the Alpha of his pack.)

Skoll generally sports large fangs around other Skins - a kind of display to signify how dangerous he is.

The more threatened he feels, the less human he looks. But he can shrink his fangs when he wants. He must feel pretty secure around Cal to do this.

It's a pleasure to work on something with a lighter palette and a focus on love instead of death for a change.

Ah, Skoll, not exactly the king of satin-smooth pillow talk.

Notes: As one can see from Cal's narrating, he's a lot more eloquent in his thoughts than his speech. Some of it comes from thinking in his own language rather than a human one.

First page of the Chasing Ice mini series - a comic that combines all the yaoi tropes and sparkles with a creamy bara center. Uh, yeah, I'm aware how that sounds....

Skoll giving Cal a very special kind of gift - his first glimpse at true winter.

From page 2 onwards, we swing into flashback mode chronicling Cal's early life and arrival at the Coven. Fasten your seat belts.

Notes: I've only seen snow once in my life when I was very young. So snowy landscapes and cold winters seem quite exotic to me.

The Chasing Ice mini series came about after I did a Yuri On Ice parody poster. This mini series is a prequel to my Smoke, Fur And Stone webcomic and doesn't interfere with the canon of the current story line.

Skoll's hands referenced from a stock image.
