Comic description

A bad game of telephone spanning a thousand years messes up what was supposed to be a redeeming event for a small alien race. With rumours of destruction making their rounds, said race can't be blamed for suspecting a sudden arrival as a harbinger of death, but only this supposed villain knows what was SUPPOSED to happen. However, it needs the reluctant help of a new "friend" to get to the source of everything and restore their former civilization.

Updates Mondays.

Hi!

It's been a year, more or less, since I last posted here. While I've worked on this comic more recently than that, I've come to a conclusion that I was kind of putting off.

Crystal Sun is a project I really like. Jiira and her friends (because even though they disagree, she still has friends) are characters I've had around in some form or another for a long time, and I love them all to pieces. But this comic, in its current state, was the product of some rash decisions mixed with jumping the gun, and while I won't say that I jumped in unprepared, I do think I would have benefited from waiting. This has been quite the learning experience, but it's not a final product.

This is not to say that I'm putting CS to bed, or that it's doomed--rather, admitting these things will hopefully lead to a much better start. By the time you're sixty something pages (well more, really, just not all posted) and a solid year into a comic, it's hard to back up and let it go. And sometimes you do need to stick with it, but I don't think CS is one of those cases. There's a mix of story, design, process, and style choices I've made for this project that I would need to stick with to finish well, but I've improved dramatically since the summer I began this story and the setup I have now won't reflect that well. If anything it's a hindrance, to the consistency of the comic among other things. Now that I'm better equipped for this project, I'd like to step back and bring it back to development, and hopefully make something better for it.

So what does this mean for the comic? Well, no more pages will be put up here, but I will be leaving it here for posterity--I am still proud of the work it took to get this far! It will be slow going I'm sure, but if you're still interested in the story and where this comic goes, you can follow that progress on tumblr, as I'm going to be cleaning out [the old update blog] and posting the new work there.

A lot has changed for me since I started, but Crystal Sun is not over, and Jiira will get her ending. Thanks so much to everyone who read it, and everyone who left a comment and showed their friends (my irl friend actually was shown this comic by one of her buddies, without him knowing of me!) and I hope to see you on the flipside!

Thanks for reading!
