Comic description

A super-hero battles his worst enemies: depression and anxiety!

MIKE PODGOR is called so because he was birthed from a gory pod sent from beyond the stars to Earth. While he may have amazing abilities beyond the ken of mortal men, he doesn’t know about them and largely just writes stories and draws comics. He dwells in the frozen north of Ohio with his sole companion, the star-hound Lucas, and whiles away his days perfecting his craft. Earth’s atmosphere may be driving him insane, so be wary around him, but he is mostly harmless.

This is the same beach as in today's Subject M, just in a different universe.

We saw a few of these fellows way back in comic #10. Each one has a name and power which is not at all integral to anything about this comic but I'll share them now anyway:
In panel two, we have (from left to right):
Jet Spray, with the power to manipulate water!
Warrior, who could project images over his form to make it look like he had shape-shifted.
Green Dove, who at this point was just really good at taking a hit and was on the verge of dealing with depression and anxiety all the time.
Masked Biker, who had a bicycle.
Snakebite, who could change his hand into a snake.

In panel three, also from left to right, we have:
Jolly Dragon, an Irish kid with super-strength and a love for anime.
Long Dave, who could stretch.
Green Dove, who at this point was learning how to harness the abilities granted by the Black Raven amulet while dealing with his depression, anxiety, and an ancient evil entity messing with him. At this point, the original Black Raven was also still bothering him.
Claps McGee, who didn't have any powers but was just kind of a clown.
Scope, who has enhanced vision.

Again, you don't need to know any of that. Just know it's there.

That's 100 Green Dove comics! We're switching back to four panels next week, probably. Maybe two comics a week, we'll see. Also, I'm starting a serial set in the same universe as Green Dove that continues the Xavier Pentecost story and while it's initially going to be a Patreon exclusive, it's going to be more widely available later on.

Oh look, it's these guys again. What are they talking about? Any guesses?

One more comic until the hundredth Green Dove comic! Oh my goodness, what a milestone!

Those aren't actual monsters. They're reasonable facsimiles but not the actual guys.

Novacaine was actually created way back in like 1996 (along with several other characters and concepts in this comic) so it's nice to actually see him in the flesh, so to speak.

We've been seeing two of these guys since the twenty-third comic and this is the first time one of them has ever gotten a line or done much of anything until now. Good for them.
