I'm not sure that people do ask for a sleeve, or if they do then the tattoo artist puts them straight. But I do like the symbolism of instant gratification that so many want. I have no idea if that was intended when you came up with the idea, but it's pretty neat.

That and the LOL moment when I first read it.

This is the result of an exercise suggested by a friend. I'm sure that it must have been done before but I didn't Google to find out and I don't care, I like the idea.

I believe that a sleeve should develop over time. Going into the tattooists with a wodge of cash and asking for a sleeve is a symptom of our instant-gratification world - like having a fully-grown wisteria nailed to your wall.
