Comic description

The Old West has been overrun by werewolves. Every night the human population dwindles as more die or fall under the curse. "The Nightriders", a group of bounty hunters, have joined together to deal with the threat. With the help of a girl and her mysterious necklace, can they hope to overthrow the werewolves and bring peace to the night once again?

"How shall a man judge what to do in such times?"

"As he ever has judged," said Aragorn. "Good and ill have not changed since yesteryear; nor are they one thing among Elves and Dwarves and another among Men. It is a man's part to discern them, as much in the Golden Wood as in his own house."

Really good point about Carson, LilBlueBox. I hadn't even considered that, but you are 100% correct about how hard this must be for him.

I don't feel sorry for Abraham. He brought this onto himself, afterall.

No. Was I supposed to? Carson's the one I really feel sorry for here. We've seen over and over again his reluctance in hunting Abraham, his difficulty in pulling the trigger... Carson doesn't want to kill his brother, he doesn't want to see his brother die, and I can't blame him for that. Such a pity Abraham doesn't seem to care about him like that. So while it's a good thing that Carson doesn't have to pull that trigger, I can't imagine this is any easier for him.

At least he won't have to deal with the internal guilt and horror of having killed Abraham though. Small favors.

Abraham... he's had this coming. He's been hurtling down a path that just keeps going from bad to worse, and this is the result. Pride, arrogance... they really are the final steps before the fall, aren't they? So yes. This IS how it ends for you, Abraham, and I don't feel sorry for you. You've been headed down this path a long time. It's time to reap what you've sown.

And I love that he causes his own destruction in the end, I really do. It's probably my favorite way to handle villains. In this case, it's even better because he dooms himself by using something that has, up until this point, been used in a positive way. And this whole scene was magnificently foreshadowed by Takoda's talk with Annabelle to boot.

I would still LOVE to know why Abraham's lugging around a sword though. Seriously, dude. The heck?

Artwise... this is one heck of a powerful page, Alicia. The last panel in particular, with the broken necklace and one single chain flying free. Powerful - and fitting, given that Abraham is still the worst priest ever. And his necklace of faith here is what breaks. Symbolism, perhaps? Regardless, man, what a powerful image. And I absolutely love the way you drew his hand in the third panel.

And of course, wonderful work on the shocked/horrified expression in panel one.

All those plans, and he goes out like a rockstar: on a completely unnecessary overdose.
