Taily:I ask because literally every time I get to try out a screen tablet, every fiber of my being SCREAMS AT ME TO STOP

it's mainly the lag time that I can't see myself getting used to.

I never got use to this either, lord have mercy when ANYTHING LOADS AND I TAP THE SCREEN JUST FOR IT TO "JUMP" BECAUSE IT DIDN'T ACTUALLY LOAD EVERYTHING WHICH = I tapped something else.. Be it simple a different page, a add, or a freaking virus: I can't stop the tablet's loading either, until the other page loads up.. and I see something I never wanted to. :(

Taily:It also got DISTRESSINGLY HOT within 10 minutes of me booting it up. It was over $2,000. Cool. At least I no longer feel like I need to drop tons of money on this.

Don't buy anything over $200, I haven't and in fact use a Wacom hook-up thing/apparatus which all costs still under$100 or MAYBE just a little more. Never bought anything for $2,000 and if it acts like how you explained: they're not any better than the lower priced junk... They also don't get too hot unless you use it for several hours...

Taily:Screen tablet users: how fast did you get used to your tablet? I'm assuming everyone does get used to it, right?? Please whisper soothing words in my ear, I want to love this product

I'm going to tell the COMPLETE truth from my experience: I never got used to drawing on tablets with my finger, I couldn't see at all! Granted, I never bought a Art/graphic tablet, and am using a set-up via a Wacom Stargate tablet thing... While I can't have that feeling of directly looking towards my hand to see what I'm drawing... You'll have all the room in the world to see by drawing on a tablet that's HOOKED UP TO YOURS. Granted, it's a little much to carry, (Like holding a plastic baby with a long cord...) but it's light and I have drawn in any place where there was decent enough darkness to see the screen!

Hope I could help...

ALRIGHT... I'm at the fun part of UBERNATURA where I'm currently uploading the previous Arc, while getting ready for the next one! But upon reading the script (I wrote last year): I saw something that was full of plot-holes, and barely serves it's purpose in it's function, yet it's WAY too integrated to overlook or simply tear out. So, it needs to be changed, but I need help on what exactly should happen in every instance it's shown. Now: if you'll want to know what's going on before giving a answer, click the spoilers, you'll also need to have time to read ALOT. If you don't have that time, then skip to the end and give me your answer.

If you haven't click the spoiler (Or did and wish you hadn't lol!) I'll give you the long-story-short here!

UBERNATURA is about the distant future: Humans have powers that can be boring or awesome and they rank differently, animals and artifacts have powers too, and there's otherworldy creatures! One of the main-characters has turned Superhuman due to a sad event in the first arc (which makes him immortal for a temporary time) and this event opens the door for many possibilities story-wise. Sadly, last year I made up -SIGN- which is more of a crutch... a lazy way to explain why the characters overcome insane obstacles without being able to turn Superhuman (Because the transformation's non-voluntary). But -SIGN- can be used at any time, once you dwell on dark emotions until you break your own spirit. I can't use this in my comic, it doesn't make sense and the momentum of the comedy and junk would drop FAST realistically. I don't think anyone would take the characters/character development seriously if they think like this, but crack a stupid joke a second later. So... what should I do to replace it? (It's too ingrained to just rip it out, so I have a few ideas to alter it, but need help on deciding how.)Your own ideas would be helpful, too!

Alter-SIGN-: alter how it works and what it does (Which is giving you half Superhuman powers for breaking your own spirit:( )

Friend Card: A friend helps out in -SIGN- events, but this'll take ALOT of editing :(

Replace -SIGN-: Change out -SIGN- for another power that's activated by something else, it has to make some sense though :(

Mystical Artifacts: The characters carry Artifacts with them? This requires heavy editing too :( (Basically, one needs to dig or steal from a museum to get one, so..)

Thanks ahead of time for your ideas! Because of how stuff happens, I'll probably start the next arc next month, irregardless if there's a answer here that fixes -SIGN-. (That doesn't mean I'd be at that part right away...) But I'll still be looking up to that point, in case the answer is something that needs to be built to, instead of popping up as a surprise.

Taily:It's the last day of questions! Thank you to everyone who participated, I've read every single one of your posts and it's been a blast learning about your comics. I hope this thread has helped you out.

Thanks so much for doing this: it's been so much fun anticipating the next question you'd do: I always kicked myself for missing a day and/or being late to a question! Also, this was great chance to "advertise" despite nobody probably being interested in my comics, thanks again for dong this!

Taily:30) Would you live in your comic's setting if someone paid you $500,000 (or an in-universe equivalent) to do so?

Yes! for UBERNATURA! It's set in the future where you'd have POWERS! Despite it being dangerous, it's only about as dangerous as people suddenly flying in from another country and doing a bomb-raid over the neighborhood: meaning since everybody has some kind of power, it evens out. Plus! I already have a character in, with powers I'd want and acting as I want to/aim to be. I'm kind of already in my comic, especially since it's somewhat of a exaggeration on real-life!

Normally, I didn't put this here, as I never even started it, but: STAR*EATER is a world where a... um... otaku's(?) dreams could come true. More or less, despite me using the comic for mostly a art dump: it WAS suppose to have a story and world of which I wouldn't mind being a part of...

Same KINDA goes for: Dreams come true, because it's literally that. The kinda part comes in at it being a apocalyptic thing of which I have no idea how to make a sequel for and fix.

For Feel the Magic-Adventurine: No! It takes place in a magic world/alternate world history Earth, where magic is the dominant power. But it's so, dangerous, frail, so unsecure... that I can't imagine WANTING to be there. Hell, I couldn't even calmly write the script, because I know I'd have to draw what I wrote and going outside my comfort zone in this way is bad enough: I would NEVER want to experience what happens in this comic!

There's a certain comic/story I want to put here, but... I realize it's contents are maybe too private to place here? I can't say much...

Last but not least thanks again for this thread! I almost wish I could go back to it and use it as a reference whenever I make a new comic!

Eaton Pye:Given that actual animals, when they use facial expressions at all (frogs and snakes, for instance, don't), tend strongly toward strong, simple expressions of strong, simple emotions, that's not surprising.

Not having much to do with the subject: but....

I'm not a furry, nor am use to drawing humanoid animals. And I've tried drawing Griffins with a humanoid shape: and despite being in a violent setting, it was hard to take them seriously, because the griffins looked so freaking goofy! Their "serious" and/or "angry" expressions looked dumb as hell because of their beaks. On the off-chance someone reads this comic and took it seriously, they'd probably lose it after seeing the griffins arc.

UBERNATURA won't have a particular flag... So, the Title Card will have to suffice. Every country/nation has it's own flag, like in real life: so...

Feel the Magic-Adventurine's academy: Novae Astrus… DOESN'T HAVE ONE!!! Dude!!! Why didn't I make one!!!? In fact, the kingdom... U.S.E: The united states of England is suppose to have a flag too! Why the hell didn't I even think to make it?! This question's more of a informative thing, than a question for me... Thanks for posting this.

Amazing Chris Godbey:I'm a sucker for any aliens. No matter what kind of creature it is, being told it comes from outer space is a good way to get my attention. Though I do have a particular fondness for Cold War-era extraterrestrials: flying saucers, tripods, handheld ray guns, shapeshifters who are assimilating themselves into our society, or hairless humanoids in silver jumpsuits...I love that stuff. Might be considered campy and cheesy nowadays, but I think that contributes to my fondness.

I like the Flatwoods monster which is a alien (or cryptid?) After seeing them on Zelda: Majora's Mask I was always fascinated by it!

Speaking of Zelad...
Also, I know it's dangerous to get involved with the mythological faeries, but what about the not-evil ones, like Tinkerbell, or the faries from The Legend of Zelda? I blame this thread for reminding me that I have a thing for faeries, too. Dammit. This thread and Spryte from the 1989 Zelda cartoon. She was pretty hot.

She was (We have a single VHS tape with only 3 episodes). But my siblings keep bringing up this one episode with prince Fasad(?). Her face was a little... "sculpted" during the bath scene, she's still pretty though! I wish the fairies looked like her in the Zelda series or like how they did in Wind waker!

Um...

For UBERNATURA: Kinda?... Um... When it's man-made/reconstructed, it's kinda cruddy, because of the aforementioned destruction that could happen. Stuff's stable, but people take shortcuts when destruction KEEPS happening. Stability is only maintained thanks to to artifacts like the Holy Grail and Holy Chalice: they can bring people back to life AND repair both natural and manmade structures to it's original form(? not original or stuff would deconstruct, I mean... in it's prime? Like new? Man made stuff's made new again!)

For Feel the Magic-Adventurine: Everything's good as new, no matter what horror: because of magic! With enough mana and the right spell, stuff's good as knew! Limbs and buildings! Maybe the only thing that can't be fixed is: dead people and areas drained of it's power/mana-less/dead... :(

Shekets:

edit: yes, I am encouraging you to get into fist fight with demons and bad spirits that intrude on your privacy that you don't want.

double edit: Concealed carry. Physical monsters like werewolves (assuming they don't need to be killed with silver), shoot them with a .45. Physical monsters are easier to deal with than monsters and creatures that have magic and can become metaphysical/non-physical at will.

triple edit: bear spray or mace. If it can hurt a bear, it can hurt a sasquatch.

Thanks for the warning: if I ever fall prey to a sexy monster, (or anyone) I'll have my silver, Bible and brass knuckles ready!

27) How much is hospitality valued in your setting? Are people welcoming to strangers?

.

I'm not sure how to answer, since UBERNATURA takes place in a futuristic(ish) setting. So, I'll have to go off of how individuals treat each other/the mains, when they meet. Under normal circumstances, Lite's social nature gets most people to warm up to him, this even works on harsher/judging people. It even makes them assume his BFs are nice too, and they easily make even more friends/reoccuring characters this way. The other half of the time: there's people who're like people you know in real life, ya know, They won't listen to anything you say. or They look so far down on you, you'd think they thought they're 60ft tall or something. Long-Story-Short: the hospitality's realistic, some people are warm and welcoming, some aren't.

Feel the Magic-Adventurine: Is centered around a Magical Academy which happens to have hospitable people. (There's a handful who aren't but, what're ya gonna do? :( ) The kids are nice (except when they find out there's a mole in the academy, later.) And, the academy itself is hospitable in general as it invites all kinds of creatures to enroll and treats them all like old friends, right away.

I have another! I have a muse which is damn-near uncontrollable.
It in fact gives me many insights on things I don't know about
myself, such as my love of Christmas (Seriously, I have more dreams
about Christmas Time than anything else.

Eaton Pye:I hear you, Shekets, I do. But on the other hand: (NSFW)

See, my point! Lol!

Merged Doublepost:

Shekets:I loathe elves and fae.
AND I HAVE GOOD REASONS TO: they're not nice. They're all awful. They snatch peoples' children and replace them with changlings, they're stealing valuable children that could be eaten! They also do other awful stuff.

They can force you into an unwanted gift exchange and put you in a situation where you need to give them something valuable and they'll give you something of lesser value in return, or they'll fuck you up really bad.

I hate gnomes with a passion. They're evil, and not the "tee-hee I'm a mischievous lad" evil, I mean evil evil.
Fae and little people are more or less just pretty trolls. Stories about them kidnapping women and forcing them to be wet nurses, among other things..

Disgusting and vile.

(IF you like fae, elves and little people that's fine. This is all in good fun.)

I was kinda aware of what you meant, essentially yeah: Fairies (and small-troll-like creatures in general) are way too mischievous to sometimes straight up evil in some cases. Though I assumed Elves were good? Unless I've only heard popular stuff like elves and the shoe-maker and they actually could be evil, too?

As a counter argument: Don't most of the other monsters on this list straight-up eat people? I mean, everybody can have their own fetishes, but being tricked into a horrible fate and/or eaten alive is still a disturbing, right?

QUESTION TIME!

Do you ever do any work in traditional mediums?
If so, what's your favorite; what do you gravitate towards? Why do you like it?
What do you like to use for drawing? Inking? Color? What kind of paper do you like? DO you have a preferred art store to shop at, and why?

Let's discuss traditional media :D

I used to draw on paper all the time! I had MANY colored pens, markers and crayons and would randomly e my parents for art books or buy one myself! My stuff wasn't exactly practicing portraits and stuff though, it leaned more to Paper-games and comics... hell, I'd even write down stories for the games/ make "picture books" and use a hole puncher and paperclips to complete the assortment of art and info!
But... everything was SO pricey :( So I'm sticking to digital until a HUGE load of money rolls in, and buying art supplies doesn't kill off doing/buying everything else I want..

Never thought about it...

For UBERNATURA: it's... planes? The series revolves around a LOT of traveling, and the fastest way to get anywhere is via flying. That and, it's hard to draw vehicles... Jets, Planes, helicopters and many other aircrafts are used extensively and will always be important to the world. I mean, people can fly by themselves, but it takes a lot of energy to do so AND teleporting is both tiring and dangerous, so...

For Feel the Magic-Adventurine: It's by.. bus? I mean, it surrounds a academy and people DO rid cars and brooms (There's ALOT of witches in the comic...) But mostly, school and city busses gets everyone where they need to go, across the state, kingdom or even through time!

25) What is a highly desirable job in your setting? What is an undesirable job?

For UBERNATURA: the most desirable job's Working at White Castle (or it's parodic-counterpart: Pearl Palace? I'm still thinking of a name for it. The main characters have their dream jobs, but if they can't get them, that place is the absolute best!
The most undesired would be: clean up, I mean... what with all the violence, who would want to clean up all the debris and corpses that could be lying around?

For Feel the Magic-Adventurine: The most desirable job is obvious, becoming a wizard! (Yeah, it's stereotypical as hell...)
The most undesirable is: Maybe a office job? Not even something fun like you're drawing or making a video game, just plain ol' number crunching and filing junk... The least magical thing that could possibly be.

Speaking of snakes (with fangs) and reptiles (possibly green or brown colored creatures) someone on Art amino had ALMOST got me interested in orcs at one point...

Something about a green girl with huge tusks(?) was exciting for 2 or 3 months.
No really I actually mean TUSKS, that wasn't a innuendo!
