Its really hard to say, I think id have to agree with Jammy. Slice of life genre has to do something different than the others to keep people interested and in a genre known for not much going on (other than constant gags) it can probably be difficult to get people interested from the get go.
Honestly though, as long as it's well-written and inventive, im sure pretty much any kind of genre can get popular.
Hello, I am Emeraldwing, I've been registered to this site nearly two years (or maybe it has been two years, haven't really checked)
I haven't really started posting in forums and such until now.
As my title states, I'm a professional lurker, but I'm thinking of retiring that title so that I can become part of a community, or something like that. I like to draw and play the video games and roleplay sometimes.
I'm not so much a shy person as I am a socially awkward person. (Is that the same thing?)
I'm still pretty new to webcomics, but the thing that keeps me going is that this is my ultimate dream, to draw comics. I love drawing and I love creating stories and such. I know I have at least a couple of people reading and if there's at least one person out there who likes my comic then it's a success, at least to me it is.
So yeah that's what keeps me motivated, or something.
