atomicgull:"The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair. Hated it!

Thank you. I was supposed to read that for AP History summer work, but I hated it, half-assed the work and then dropped the class on the second day.

I also hated Heart of Darkness (I read the whole thing but failed every test and essay on it) and the Shipping News. I couldn't even explain those books if someone asked me to. I didn't really like The Giver, Anthem, or Animal Farm either. I could probably go the rest of my life without reading another corruption or dystopia story.

Some of my faves were Ender's Game, To Kill a Mockingbird, Gatsby, Bless Me Ultima, Night, and I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. My number one is Angela's Ashes though, because I really like the way Frank McCourt wrote. I'm kinda dumb, so I can't explain exactly what makes his writing style so easy to connect to, but I do know that I was compelled to pick up another book of his ('Tis), and it's the only book I've read independently since elementary school.

I also hated all Shakespeare except Hamlet

I hate when someone's tone says they're giving you a compliment, but they're actually insulting you. I think theatre kids do this the most; a lot of them want to just feel better than you, so they try and alpha-male you in a really passive-aggressive way

I went to a twenty one pilots concert with my brother a couple years ago, and in line there was a group of kids with faces full of piercings and hair dyed all different colors and thick eyeliner and stuff. Which is fine, but they started shit talking my brother and me for how we were dressed, and one girl said, word-for-word, "I bet they're just here because they like Tear in my Heart on the radio."

Which was bizarre cause my brother and I were just wearing basketball shorts, and i was wearing a solid color t-shirt and he was wearing a tank top. We weren't that out of place. And this band's "aesthetic" isn't really as flamboyant as those people were dressed, so we were just confused, more than anything. I've been to a ton of concerts but i've never had anyone be such a douche about how i was dressed

Epiale:also had someone recently get on my case about typing TWENTY ØNE PILØTS without the stupid slash through the O. the horror

maybe it was the same girl lmao

I pulled my working title from a NoFX song when I was 14, so that's pretty embarrassing... but it definitely grew on me. In the first version of the comic, the name had nothing to do with anything, really, but this time I'm trying to make it more relevant

I consistently get Gryffindor and I don't understand. When I was 9, I was really into the books. I went to a Harry Potter-themed summer camp where they had 4 cabins that were each treated like a different Hogwarts house. We pulled papers out of a hat to tell us what we were. I was so excited to get Gryffindor. I was like, "Woah I'm just like Harry Potter! It's meant to be!" And over the next couple years I took a million tests on a million sites cause like, you know, that's what kids do

So I guess it's set in stone, but I don't believe I should be a Gryffindor anymore. I relate much less to Harry Potter and much more to Chuckie Finster

keltyzoid!:oh, this isn't necessarily a word i hate, but a way of typing that i hate.

i hate when people add a bunch of question marks throughout a sentence and it makes it sound very patronizing and arrogant.

"um excuse u?????? people use question marks?????? to cope?????"

It's so condescending. if i see that on tumblr i'm pretty openhanded with the unfollows, even if someone is just reblogging something. it genuinely pisses me off that much

As far as words go, i hate words with "unch", like lunch, crunch, munch, you know. that sound deeply disgusts me

Jean_Q_Citizen:Meh, okay if you're into it. Sounds a bit like a Tumblrjumble of trendiness, though.

DudeDude:Y'know, I never expected a live play about one of the founding fathers to attract a cultish, Undertale-esque Internet fanbase.

wait, is it that bad? maybe it's cause I don't really use tumblr or anything, but I don't think I've seen much of that (the undertale-ness, I mean)
or am I that person oh shit

yes absolutely. I saw it in Chicago last Saturday and it really is the best show I've ever seen. I was worried it wouldn't hold up without the Broadway cast, but it did. The ensemble is amazing; they're the real stars of the show. Their lighting design Tony was well deserved, too

There are a few really small things I didn't like too much, like how some of the songs went together. I knew not to expect much dialogue between songs, but there's like, none. That's fine, but I didn't understand some of the transitions. So if there's a move from one song to another that sounds rough in the soundtrack, it's that way in the show. An example of that would be Aaron Burr, Sir to My Shot. I always thought it was kinda weird, so I assumed they talked between them in the actual production, and they don't. That's not the only example, just the earliest one

I'm sorry for being longwinded. I could go on about this show for days, really. My friends and I have been analyzing the music since October 2015

in short, if you like the show a lot and are able to get tickets at their intended price, go see it

Chalk is all I can think of. I don't know what sort of psychological trauma caused that, but God. I get the damn fight or flight response when I touch chalk, and it takes like, 10 minutes to calm down afterwards. it's unreasonable. and that's just touching it; drawing on a chalkboard is 500 times worse

I know it sounds like the stupidest thing ever, but it's true, unfortunately. other than that, I have a pretty general fear of everything

When I was 7 or 8, we took a trip to Orlando, where there was a restaurant called the Pac-Man cafe. When we walked in, standing there was like, a 9-foot Pac-Man statue. I started crying tears of joy, but I had to hold it together the best I could because I didn't want my parents and siblings to laugh at me. I am dead serious, too. I was that touched by this big-ass pac-man

keltyzoid: Video
:(
