Hi, here to shamelessly tell you to have a look at this teaser trailer.

I've been working with some friends on this game for about a year and a half. There's 5 of us and we expect to have a playable demo by next year sometime.

Here's a brief description of the game:

ShelfLife is an RPG that follows a non-binary art school student who begins to travel to bizarre parallel dimensions during their first year of University.

And for more information/content about the game:

Our Twitter

Thanks for having a look!

As a White person who is from and lives in Christchurch all I can say is while these were extremists - we as a culture have allowed them to feel safe and free to express and action their views.

People on Facebook keep changing their profile pictures, adding frames saying "this isn't us" it is us!! We encouraged it by not discouraging it. Through not calling out or acknowledging both blatant and causal racism/xenophobia/islamophobia/etc.

Every year my University has this thing called the Undie/Roundie 500. People dress up and deck out cars and drive as part of an Ensoc (engineering club) event. Every year there are horrible horrible cars and costumes.

See in the spoiler for some photos from the event

While white NZ might be able to trick itself into thinking they are not part of a larger problem, they are. People are very good at deflecting blame, saying things like "that bloody Australian" (as reports say the main shooter was an Australian who moved here), instead of recognising how their actions foster an environment where these horrific ideals thrive!!

We NEED to be better.

Also our Mayor has issued a statement saying she wasn't aware of white supremacist groups in our city... And like... Are you honestly blind. They are not quiet about it.

I am very angry and frustrated and crushed and upset. "How could this happen to our city", "I thought we were safe from it here" - Pakeha New Zealander's ... You need to open you eyes. You need to listen to the communities that are suffering and stop with your shallow Facebook activism/attention seeking posts. The only part that is about you is that YOU are part of the problem. Get real.

Merged Doublepost:

Also I'm very mad that people kept sharing Ben Shapiro's tweet about it. He shouldn't be given a voice here.

Also also, I am super amazed and humbled by the amount the give a little and launch pages have raised for the families over the last 24 hours.

Here's the give a little link as well link

Also halal food drives have been collecting as well in the city.

I'm hoping to finish it over the next few weeks? But no idea when it would get released as it wouldn't be down to me.

I've been having troubles importing the animation from doing it in flash to having the .avi files in premiere pro to cut it together... Premiere seems to reduce the quality of the animations by heaps even when you just import them to the stage. I don't know enough about that program to know what settings to use or anything I guess.

Thanks for all the kind wordss.

My friend does such good music so it is nice to help him out and do videos for him.

MK_Wizard:Very nice! I would love to make a music video myself someday though mine would be animated.

I'm doing an animated one for this friend's other song as well, but it is a bit scary looking

image

It's not exactly fitting with the tone of the song, but friend thinks it looks very good, so that's all that matters

Well to tell the truth I co-directed it for my friends new album release. But I also bought the Furby with my own money so that accounts for some too.

Thanks for looking, I hope you like it.

ACTUALLY they are really cheap these days, yellow, red, green, purple and white all go for between 20-30K and blue goes for 70-80K. So like, it's not millions and millions worth these days.

I'm just like the rest of you, I pick up the measly 3-5 coins you get when you kill goblins.

So my flatmate/workmate/friend downloaded the Old School Runescape (OSRS) app last Sunday and said it was very good for playing while on break or while waiting on hold at work. And as someone who played a lot of OSRS when I was aged 9-15 I was very on board for having someone I live with getting into it again.

The upsetting thing for people who used to play is you have to start again, luckily I did play a little bit last year around the time there was a Pride event, so I had some stats to work with. But ... wow... it's so good. All I've been doing the last 3 days is Runescape and I bought a months membership, because I love stealing from cake stalls and the Gnome Stronghold and the fashion.

Mobile is okay for doing grindy stats like mining in safe areas or woodcutting, but I wouldn't want to do quests or proper things on mobile. Friend is right about it being good for little bits while at work. Also it doesn't really use any data, which is a bonus.

I hope that it's not just people with RS nostalgia that would enjoy it - my flatmate/workmate/friend used to play when she was younger as well, so I don't know if she would of played otherwise.

I love how the graphics look, they are chunky and I like the colours.

Anyway here's my current look:

image

Anyone else enjoying this magical time in our lives??? Please say yes.

I was going to suggest this as I think it's the best webcomic on this site currently.

Very, very, very well done comic.

I don't know if it relates to OPs list of current stuff they like, but it is definitely something you should give a go if the content flags are ones that are alright for you.

mr.Trouble:Isn't this what JK Rowling got under fire for? Saying her characters are gay and stuff without anything hinting at it in the book? I guess it just comes off as wanting the diversity points but not wanting to put effort in it.

The difference between JK and deo101's suggestion is the JK said those things outside the Canon - Dumbledore being gay is no where in the books themselves - where as deo101 suggests putting that another character is gay into the actual work.

Even though it is pretty common knowledge at this point about Dumbledore it is totally possible for people who have only read the books and never interacted with the fandom to not know this. And having information presented to you in Canon rather that after you have read the work does change your thoughts and reactions to characters.

Edit:
Too slow to type got in after already said whoops

Back to op's topic:

Whatever you decide to go with: having yourself consider the story differently: how the world after his death would change if he didn't die seems like it would be a really useful excercise.

Would they have always stayed together? I think BeeMKay asks some good questions and basically going through and deciding your answers to them will super help strengthen your story. And if you cannot decide on and answer - Then that's also helpful! You can explore both paths and end up with a better decision that you can feel confident in.

Edit edit: a lot of posts happened while I was writing mine - makingy post basically pointless - feel free to ignore (will teach me to respond on my phone: the slowest way to type).
