I know exactly how you feel...I've often felt that way too...when I do I just stop for a while...months even....and when I want to do it again I just continue on. The trick is not to give yourself any pressure. Pressure just saps the fun out of it. It should be fun. You're not being paid to do it, you're doing it for fun...right?
It just means you`re improving....I go through the same thing from time to time. I feel like my art work is crap and my writing is crap...well the writing might actually BE crap not sure, but with the art work its just because I'm going through an improvement curve. So buck up, young fella, and sally forth!!....oh and does anyone here know how I can add my banner to these forum posts?
Mr. Capps:I have been watching The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes with that jeremy brett guy. it is pretty good, he really has the character nailed down. the guy playing watson is not that bad either.
I LOVE that show! A similar show that I've been watching recently and is beyond excellent is Agatha Christie's Poirot. It took a bit to get through the first 3 or 4 episodes but then I was hooked!
LauraEss:I've been watching DC's Legends of Tomorrow.
I have to say that this is perhaps the dopiest DC series I've watched. For time travelers they're hopelessly disorganized and so incompetent that they couldn't find their way home even if they were standing at the front door. And Rip Hunter just sounds like Rory Williams from Doctor Who with a bad cold (same actor).
I worked on that show as a set dresser. Victor Garbor in an incredibly nice fellow.
My "gag-a-day" comic "The Francis Cartoons" does waaaaay better here than on Tapastic...plus I like the community here way more...much friendlier I find....though I may just feel that way because here I'm not totally ignored.
I just want to say that I know I'm hard on you sometimes, I know I swear and curse and yell and go off the deep end....occasionally <ahem>. But I need you to know something....something I can't say to you to your face....to your sweet piggly wiggly little face. Sure you're ugly ...and annoy the hell out of me, and frustrate me, and sometimes I want to fry you up and eat you with eggs and a side of hash browns...but you're my best pal in the whole wide world damn it! I'd do anything for you, you silly little sausage meat...I love you! So shut up about it already.
Cannon:I've had a lot of people tell me my stuff reminds them of The Far Side. Most of the time they're Far Side fans and so they mean it in a good way, but occasionally I get people saying things like it's 'just as inappropriate as The Far Side'. I did have one person tell me it reminded them of Rhymes with Orange, but I really don't see any similarities there (maybe they thought that because they're both single-panel comics).
Your stuff reminds me of The Far Side. I'm a long time Far Side fan and I mean it in a good way. It is just as inappropriate as The Far Side...this is a good thing. I will now commence subscribing to your comic...that is all.
A comment was recently left on my forum that my comic, The Francis Cartoons, looked similar to Ren and Stimpy and Ralph Bakshi cartoons. Well, flatery will get you anywhere with me. If I came even as close as a cinetillionth to their talent, I'd be a happy Ostrichmann.
Better to have been subbed and lost than to have never been subbed at all...I thank my subscribers because I'm greatful to have them and want to establish a friendly repoire ....I also respond to most comments because I like it when other creators respond to my comments on their threads
I drove around the city with my best pal Florence looking for an air conditioner, only to discover every store was completely out of stock....so now I'm laying plastered to the couch, drenched in sweat, fading in and out of consciousness.
My comic ain't special...yet....but I do try to plumb the deep recesses of the human psyche in a funny, short and easily digestible way....and through the guise of a non human avatar so as to make it more palpable. I'm interested in the stuff that makes us humans and the stuff that makes us go, the stuff that we often don't like to acknowledge...but, like I say I want to explore it in a light and entertaining way...now if you want to read something really special, I can't recommend anything more highly than Moizmad's RIDDICK Q. LOSS TALES....absolute genius as far as I'm concerned! Her art is the epitome of cartooning in my humble opinion.
Art...it's the eye candy that gets my attention. If the avatar looks good, and I have the time, I'll almost always click on it. But then I get much more picky.....because there is just so many damn good artists around here, people. Now, the cream rises to the top, and we can see that clearly and those comics are pretty easy to find. But what I consider the truly great finds are the diamonds in the rough, the comics that are great, but for some reason haven't been discovered yet. Personally I like supporting those one's by subscribing....not that I don't subscribe to other's as well, but in this world of everyone competing for eyeballs and with limited time, we have to realize our readers must be choosy....whoa! sorry for the ramble
Are you Francis Ostrichmann?! ...ah wait, nevermind, forget it...I just realized something significant... You couldn't possibly be Francis Ostrichmann....right? Or could you be....hmmm...very very suspicious now...
