IMO the real problem is that some really bad comics have lots of subscribers.

I'd say it's better than xkcd... But you really need to increase contrast of the images after you scan them. They're way too pale.

Fail can be used as a noun. "It happens every day without fail" for example. Just admit you're wrong, Kyo.

I agree with all of the above, .bmp is an abomination and is not a good image format for anything. Also there are much better free editors than MS Paint.

Kurtless:When drawing I color light, then when I like the light sketch I make the lines black.

So that's the reason why your comics look so messy. Why don't you just use 2 different layers and just hide the layer with the initial sketch after you're done with it?

This comic doesn't really make any sense. I think it sucks. Most attempts at humor are in the vein of "characters say swear words, it's funny because... um..." Like, there's hardly any shock value anymore when a comic character says "Fuck you". It's just par for the course these days.

I agree that it is too much like xkcd. But I disagree that it is a good thing. xkcd sucks.

I'm using GIMP and Wacom Bamboo Pen tablet. A typical comic goes like this:

1. Load template. It has 4 panels and all the layers I need (words, frame, sketch, background) plus some layers I don't need but cant be bothered to delete.

2. Come up with the stupidest joke I could come up with.

3. Draw characters standing there. The characters are simple shapes so it doesn't take much time.

4. Draw speech bubbles. Scribble words with ink tool.

5. Add horizon, some trees and some clouds in the background. Note: many webcomic artists forget to do this part. IMO, this is just lazy!

6. Done!

Usually takes 15 minutes or so. However I also like to diversify things a bit, so last few comics took longer than that.

Mr Lostman:
2gcomic:1. A 'drawn' (or screenshot from the anime) Avatar the Last Airbender webcomic

Guess what part of this is just plain wrong.

The fact that it is not anime, but an American cartoon?

Use Paths and Ink Tool, or whatever their Photoshop equivalents are (I use GIMP). Brush could do too with the right settings. Or even pencil. Just don't do what this guy uses.
