Thanks for the advice, I'll give it a try and get back to you!
EDIT: Not having a massive amount of luck as I'm not actually sure which parts of the code to change or where I would put it, would you be able to give me an example if it's not too much work, or show me where in the code I have it should be?
Hey there, I admit my CSS skills are super rusty so what I tell you here might to be super helpful in determining what the problem is (my own approach to trying to fix things is tinkering with bits at random and seeing what changes and my terminology is "this thingy isn't doing the thing"), but I need some help.
This is my comic site thus far, I modified the one of the pre-made layouts slightly to fit my design (this one) it's looking great as it is but the image map navigation I have placed at the side seems to be pushing the content box off center and I'm not quite sure how to get it to stay there, or how to have it so that the navigation bars position doesn't have presedence over the content box. I know this probably isn't very helpful but if you have any idea what I could possibly do let me know. Thanks muchly!
...making my triumphant return to Comicfury after like a year and a half or so of absence? For those of y'all that remember me, good to see you again, for those who don't or weren't around when I was, nice to meet you.
I've been gone for a while for a number of reasons, had personal problems some time back in 2013 which distanced me from Comicfury a bit, plus dealing with mounting depression and anxiety related problems, attempting to get into uni (and failing a whole bunch of times), a foundation art course which I didn't get on with very well to say the least and unfortunately losing interest in my comic Mayonaka Densha (which also sadly for any readers is not going to be continuing)
But I got a lot done in the time I've been away, I've gotten a lot better mentally, done all kinds of awesome things, I've been to Japan, I got accepted into London College of Communication to study BA animation, I now live in London, I rock at eyeliner and my hair is pink but most importantly I'll be soon uploading...
✨✨A BRAND NEW COMIC✨✨
So keep a look out for that! Good to be back guys~
(Also since I've been gone I'm rusty on the forum rules lemme know if I do a wrong thing)
I recieved a beautiful comic print dress from ModCloth which I wore all day along with penguin and hearts tacky Christmas jumper (I have a thing for tacky Christmas jumpers), and learned that apparently I have another ModCloth dress coming in the post so I'm super duper stoked! :D
My dad also bought me a really cute red portable record player and The Smiths Hatful of Hollow on vinyl which has been a lifesaver of an album these past few months, as cliche as it sounds, so I'm very happy to have that in some tangible format. My brother also bought me Total Madness on vinyl too because I love Madness it's the nuttiest sound around who doesn't love Madness I didn't think I'd get more than one record aaaaaah~
I also own this very nice pillow now which goes alarmingly well with my very twee new bedsheets, and also lets people know whats what.
Not giving away too much but the basic premise is two girls who are best friends but hate eachother in a kind of deiselpunk future-past-wherever city in the UK get up to war and chaos related shenanigans
Just got back from the Halloween party my university put on up at it's cafeteria/nightclub function type building, I had a lot of fun and it's really what I needed because man has this been a shitty ass week. I went as Fionna the Human from Adventure Time and here I am looking super kawaii (bad quality photo I know)
Anyway, I went with my friends Emma and Martha (plus Emma's boyfriend and flatmates), Martha had decked herself up as a really really awesome Medusa, she was getting compliments left and right like woah. The university had really gone all out with the decor and everything, there was a truck with "Zombie Elimination Task Force" or something similar written on it which periodically sprayed smoke at people in queue, with a guy dressed as a zombie lying underneath pretending to be crushed. There were also riot police roping up people dressed as zombies and putting them in to cages all around the place, it was really entertaining. Also everyone got sprayed with fake smoke before going in because apparently zombie decontamination.
So then we all went in, danced and drank for a bit and admired the hell out of all the costumes, the most popular seemed to be the old "slap fake blood on a ripped t-shirt and be done with it" but the other most popular ones by my observation were the Joker, Day of the Dead skeletons, foxes (and all utterances of "What does the fox say?" therein contained), Walter White (I said if I got drunk enough I'd ask one of them to hit me up with some meth before I left, alas I did not), Miley Cyrus, sexy little red riding hood, sexy snow-white and cast members of Shaun of the Dead. There was only one other Adventure Time costume there and wouldn't you know it, it happened to be Marshall Lee, he came up and added me on Facebook just before I left. :>
I got recognized a few times but mostly just got called Finn and asked "Are you from Adventure Time!?", either way it was fun fun fun but now I'm a bit tipsy and it's giving me the shivers. The only downside was that the DJ was awful, the music was not nearly spoopy enough. They did however play Thriller and the Ghostbusters theme tune so they at least had some sense, the music only seemed to get good as I was leaving. ANYWAY, it was fun to dress up and dance, fun night for Fionna the Human~
Another observation is that there were so many couples making out, like so many, way more than usual and they just wouldn't stop, they just stood there like...make out machines like did they not need air plus they kept leaning on me I am not your makeout post, drunk makeout robot couples.
Not on Halloween night per-se, but my university is having a Halloween party at The Stannary (cafeteria by day, nightclub by night) with spoopy music and a very handsome cash prize for the best costume, I don't expect to win at all but I'm super excited to see who does. I've barely done anything the past few Halloweens as UK people barely go anywhere near as large on it as Americans do and I've just about passed the age where you can't trick or treat anymore, so I'm glad to have an actual party to go to where people will actually put effort in to their costumes and there will be dancing and fun! :D
This year I'm going as Fionna from Adventure Time, my costume is pretty much complete save for a pink sword which I'll be grabbing from the party shop.
I took the initiative to try and solve my being inside and festering problem, I'm going to my uni's comic book society tomorrow evening, I invited my best friend out for a drink on Wednesday and a girl from my course I'm friendly with over to make sushi on Thursday, I can do this! :D
Also the difference between UK bus drivers and Thai bus drivers is something I noticed while there (admittedly one is probably relying more on customers and tourists for income than the other but y'know) is that UK bus drivers will often avoid you even if they can see plainly that you are waiting whereas Thai bus (or songthaew) drivers will go out of their way to try and pick you up even if you aren't looking for a ride
Yeah I know that probably applies to tourists more than locals but I found it quite amusing
One thing I've learned through dating Ian is there seems to be a large gap in amount of shits given between the UK and the USA, especially in school.
The biggest (fairly) little cultural difference I noticed was the way the ending of high school was treated in our respective places of origin, over there, there was pretty huge whoop from what I gather with graduation ceremonies with the hats and the gowns and everything and emotional goodbyes whereas over here the last day of high school was pretty much the same as every other day, and in fact it wasn't even the same day for most people in my school year, as exams finished on different dates and you were done once all your exams were, there was very little fuss made, it was just kind of like "yeah you can go now, good luck with uni or whatever". Granted it may have just been my school but either way it stood out to me.
And just the differences how the American school system and the UK school system works in general but that's a whole different kettle of fish, neither of us have quite got our heads round that one.
Name of Christoph Quick (Lady with a man name, presumably short for something) and Aija Campbell, two best friends who can't stand each other and are kind of entitled little shits but through the events of the story learn not to be quite so much
