MENTAL has Alisha: Lesbian wingman.
In Crawlers one of the characters is probably heteroflexible and another asexual.
Weight of Eternity...suprisingly doesn't have any gay characters now that I think about it...
It Hits the Fan has a trans character but I can't really take credit for that.

I follow Scott McCloud's advice when making word baloons in Illustrator and the like. Start with an oval then pull the anchor points out to make it more square shaped. I add the tail afterward. To accomidate the shape better I make the text thick in the middle and try to have the top and bottom line shorter so it fits more naturally in with the curve of the balloon. Madefire has similar advice HERE and here's an example of what I'm talking about with the text [spoiler]

Gender is a pretty big theme in my comics actually
MENTAL is sort of a Scott Pilgram meets Entourage so it's very male but to sort of hold a mirror to it I introduced Alisha, the lesbian wingman. She's just as much of a scoundral as the main character Chase but doesn't have the same societal pressures as he does.
CRAWLERS is about a group of roleplayers. So one of the story elements is that they never have female characters in the group except ones made by the guys younger sister who has no actual interest in playing.
Weight of Eternity A lot of the scenes would have come off as a lot less rapey if I'd have made the main character male. She is actually a really strong character but she has stumbled into a supernatural world where she is powerless. I didn't realize these unintentional themes when I created the series a decade and a half ago (the files were lost so it is a repost not a new series)

My stories are about what a character learns so killing the character would be sort of pointless. I've killed important characters in prose but not comics. There is a major death in MENTAL planned but we're a few hundred pages from that one happening.

This makes me think we need to have our next comic crossovers to resolve this.

Here's my standard advice on dating: Find something you love (like comics) throw yourself into THAT. along the way you'll meet someone who likes you for that or finds you interesting because of it. I met my wife because I was trying to promote my comic (she doesn't even like comics) my previous girlfriend I met on the plane back from Comicon and the girl before that I met crashing a writing conference

This is exactly why I want to see more panels with more than one character in them. It's inspiring to see other artist draw your character.

Sivrus:Quick note, I'm starting to think that this "Hits the Fan" thing you've got going would be better if it switched hosts per "game," akin to Mafia. Like, after you're done with this situation you've put the characters in, you can pass it on to another host and let them manage another game of It Hits the Fan.

Just an idea.

I might be okay with that if we ever get through the current disaster (each plot resolves around a disaster scenerio hence the name It Hits The Fan).

view:I specifically don't advertise for a similar reason. One of my series has been viewed millions of times via pirate imgur albums via reddit and 4chan, so I've pretty much been through the same thing.

It goes away pretty quick.

True my campaign comics were number one on stumbleupon for a week. I was obscured again within a few weeks

You need to watch this video. It is a true success story of someone who created something he loved that also doubled as a portfolio and it lead him to a great life. INSPIRATIONAL

I try to make it a challenge to show as little as I can get away with. I got several compliments about how hot the sex scenes were in my zines (of MENTAL) though all I showed was clothes piling on the floor. My writing is so suggestive that people details I never actually drew. I did, however, decide to have a sex advice section in the MENTAL strips and it became pretty graphic.

Also in Weight of Eternity there is boobs for not a lot of reason. I was debating whether or not this other character would have stripped her clothes off of her when he put her into bed and couldn't decide. I went with having her clothes off because it made me uncomfortable and wanted to push my boundries.

JRChace:I'd like to see more updates of my favorite comicfury webcomics!

GET BACK TO WORK PEOPLE

/whipcrack

I should with all the things I've had in my comics that touch on what people have said here. Weight of Eternity will have both vampires and unicorns, the likes of which you've never seen before (though unicorns extremely briefly). And I might not have a bear dragon in Crawlers, but what do you think of an OWLBEAR DRAGONS (though only shown for 3 panels...)
