Depends on what you're going for. What are creating it for? What color scheme do you want? Does the font match the theme? There's a TON of questions to ask yourself when trying to create a striking logo! :) I'm a graphic designer outside of CF so I make them often enough to also let you know to CHECK THE USAGE RIGHTS of the font you are using. You don't want to get in trouble with the creator (it can get messy).
Plugins I recommend:
Any caching plugin (but only one): Total Cache, Super Cache, or Fastest Cache - These speed up page load time and also alleviate the burden on the host's servers. Your sysadmin will love you. Recaptcha - helps prevent comment spam and I think it also adds a captcha to the login page Limit Login Attempts - Helps prevent brute force attacks on the login form (May increase CPU usage when a brute force happens, but better than the attack succeeding)
Thank you! :) This is very helpful and any help offered will be greatly accepted and thankful. :D
Aren't updates a necessity tho? It does help a lot.
Brute force attacks? you mean hacking??
sketchdoll:Anywho, I use Wordpress with Comicpress for my theme. It took a lot of trial and error to get it close to what I was wanting. I sort of based my layout on other comics that I read. I had to google stuff a lot when customizing the code.
Thankfully, Wordpress is fairly easy to learn. I mean, if I can pick it up, I am sure anyone can. The last Website I built was HTML with tables, so I had a bit of a learning curve to get over, but now it's relatively easy to maintain. Customizing widgets and whatnot is pretty nice.
You've used it! *hopeful eyes* How do I even get started? I honestly don't have much coding experience... :(
Okay, this may sound strange BUT, we wanted to make a home website that we could fully design to our hearts content and it seems that one of the only ways to make a home-site that have everything needed; Subscribe or login options, unique button creation, comic view with next, current, or previous options are with WordPress... (we still want to have our comic on here but just link up the site to here... design wise... weird but I saw an option for it!)
HOW THE EVER-LIVING HECK DO I MAKE A SITE WITH IT?! @^@
I am cunfuzzled to say the least!
Anyone on here good at using WordPress? (not the blog one but the actual website building one)
Newbie over here! *raises hand* I need your expert and amazingly talented advise! Help?
I used one for YEARS!(I still do on occasion if I don't feel like getting my little tablet out! :P)
Do what you're most comfortable with. like if you ink using the inking tool in Photoshop you can ink it easier (with cleaner lines) if you're worried about shaky hands. it takes practice but in the end you can not only adjust the paths but make the artwork amazingly smooth! ~<3
-you must have around 25 posts on your site first to be considered to have adds on (if considering on putting adds on your own site) - Make sure you make the proper dimensions for the adds and pay attention to what certain publishers allow on their pages. (no NSFW banners on a SFW site lol) - ALWAYS shop around and see if the sites are not only to your needs for advertising but hold the right audience - try to shop within a budget as well as be smart with bits, if the bid is past 10 cents you have to bid exactly ten cents more, if still below ten cents you can bid literally just pennies more than the current bid. (hint: some sites have no minimum bid when some have a minimum, BUT some locations are untouched and literally free to advertise on due to no minimum bid! Out of courtesy I usually put up a few cents to help the publisher out! :))
We advertise a bit now- still a bit new to it but, this is what I can offer dear. :)
Good Luck! And if you need a gif or banner made I can see about helping you out. *thumbs up*
This sounds awesome! (congrats on your upcoming parenthood! ;) ) I know I'm a bit late in this thread but, wouldn't mind creating some short paneled comics for fun! feel free to PM me if interested! :D
First off, I LOVE medieval fantasy! (making a comic... guilty as charged) I can see you've put quite a bit of thought into this. The writing style is intriguing and quite honestly it's a decent way to start a comic! :) a good way in fact. Remember though: when you ask for an artist you get what the artist's style is. To mimic another's would take away from the originality. Good comic example, I'll admit.
But, if you're open to different styles of art there may be even more artists who will open up. :) I'd like to read it.
I'm not sure if my art style is what you're looking for.
Okay, so I know it's one of my older pages but... I absolutely LOVED making this one!! XD I'm still relatively new to drawing this style of comic, so I know it's nothing compared to quite a few of them out there! I just loved drawing and lighting and even just sketching this scene! I can't wait to draw even more! I just wished my college and work schedule made more time for me! (its weird finding the sound effect for a baby crying to! XD)
