My family is ridiculously religious, with the exception of my brother. They most certainly would not like my work since it features plenty of nudity. Violence, war, death, that`s fine- nudity- No. Heck even anything that slightly shows the female form is bad.

Yet, I still insist on doing these things.

And I still see my family regularly. Oh and I don`t hate religion at all, in fact I see it as important still.

MK_Wizard:

What do you all think? Is the evil villain still important or just an outdated concept?

Yep, the evil villain is still very useful and still important. Always will be.

I bumped into Michael Pailin in London some years ago. He looked straight at me as I did him. He was wearing the exact same coat as I was wearing and our coats were quite distinctive which is why he noticed me. It was complete coincidence as I had no idea he had the same coat as me. He didn`t look very pleased which was strange considering he`s a comedian.

Well it depends, if you have put up enough of your comic to have something solid up, 20-30 pages, maybe start then.

Or you can even advertise just when you`ve put up a couple of pages as long as you`re confident that you have a complete book to go.

You can`t pray to nothing. You have to believe you`re praying to something.

killersteak:The American education thread prompted this and I didn't want to derail it.
Separate from religion, the individuals spirituality, how they see the world and consider themselves. Is there an energy to all things outside of what science proves... Would you teach any such things to your kids? Do you think schools should touch on it? I remember ours tried to do a very basic meditation, lay down while forest sounds play for ten .minutes.

I most definietely would teach my kid some kind of spirituality, most likely Christianity which is what I was brought up on.

I believe that there`s more to this world than just what we see here. I also believe that even if there is no such thing as a god. Such spiritual things such as the Bible, for example, helps a person have a moral compass which is very useful in making certain decsions in life and stops one from going too far one way or another.

I`m not saying you have to become some kind of evangelist or fanatic about it, but that some kind of belief in something greater than yourself which has been proven over thousands of years is worth letting your kids know about so they can make their own decisions on it, rather than hiding them from it.

Just how I see it and I`m no super religious person by a long shot!

phoenixjklin:That's also a thing, ads, wherever they are, are always LOUDER than what you were watching. Why? That makes it even more annoying because they don't respect my choice of preferred volume. And it makes it near impossible to watch TV during my apartment building's silent hours because I'll jumpscare my neighbours with ads.

Yep, hugely annoys me too. It`s like they saying "You MUST LISTEN TO OUR ADS AND WE`RE GOING TO MAKE SURE YOU CAN`T NOT HEAR OR IGNORE IT!"

Clearly it`s not by accident. I`ll bet they`ve made a deal so whenever they`re braodcasting an Ad the volume is upped something like 10%.

phoenixjklin: But now youtube has started doing this thing where they think it's more effective to put 2 ads at the beginning AND end of videos.

Yep, hugely annoys me too, now. Sometimes even in the middle. Also, I used to be able to mute the ads, I`m certain, but muting them has no effect any more!

mitchellbravo:...or just can't do for one reason or another

When I was a preteen/teenager living at home, I loved staying up late into the night playing computer games. I didn't do this tremendously often (which is odd in retrospect as I wasn't really a paragon of self control), but I always envisioned being an adult one day and being free to stay up like playing Sims until 2am as much as i wanted

I`ll never outgrow playing games. I just learn to limit my time with them!

I did learn not to play Multiplayer games. I got kind of addicted to it and it really started to affect work. I get really loyal to my teams and find it hard to let go (I`m a big teamworker sort of guy). I had no choice but to stop myself.

I don`t miss it now.

Calling people racist when they were not actually being racist only pushed people to vote Brexit. The Labour party needs to stop doing it.

Phoenix In Crisis:Not art-wise, but health-wise:
Keep bottled water, lozenges, vitamin C tablets and/or a bit of fresh fruit, and hand sanitizer handy. The "Con-Crud" is real. you'll probably be shaking lots of hands and folks will be all up in your personal bubble.
Pre-Schedule bathroom breaks and bring a snack (or two. I dunno how long you'll be tabling.)

Yea, I went to something like that once. Immediately caught a cold to my surprise. Didn`t think it would be because of the raft of people you`d be rubbing shoulders with at the time!

Ball, the nurse, finds herself experiencing the world through the eyes of a sorceress. A black WWI soldier on the run is caught in her wake and confusion is about to reign as great battleships of the sky are soon to meet. Steampunk meets sword and sorcery.

Confused yet?

I have toyed with this idea many times. Can I make a really mean character who did something really bad, but make him someone people will eventually like?

In my experiments I`ve found it easy to get people to like a really bad woman, but harder to like a really bad man. Quite fascinating.
