Oh, I tried this years ago when it was still called HabitRPG and (I think?) only had a browser version - thanks for reminding me this exists! I was considering getting the app a while back (and then forgot all about it again), maybe I should try this again... Thinking/hoping I can just use my old account from way back x3

I guess some people, in addition to just not being a fan of the style in general, feel it's too "overused" and sometimes even "less original"? I've seen this quite a bit with "anime/manga style" (which technically shouldn't be a specific "style" since anime/manga just means "Japanese cartoons/comics" and those can look very different from each other but that's another discussion): never liked the assumption/view that "anime style" and "your own original style" is mutually exclusive, that this type of style, or rather elements commonly associated with it, are inherently less "original" than certain other types. If you just straight-up copy the style of your favorite mangaka that's one thing, but why is this kind of inspiration "worse" and "less original" than other kinds of inspirations? How do you know it's not just the artist genuinely liking to draw and preferring this style instead of just trying to "copy what's popular"? I've seen a bunch of artists saying they want to move away from "anime style" (often seeming to mean anime inspiration in general) to "my own original style", and sure, I'm all for changing your style and trying something else if you want, and you can feel however you like about the styles but with this choice of words being used over and over again...

For me... there's no specific styles I "hate", really, it's all about how the art itself looks. Pretty much all types of styles can look good or at least decent to me, though of course there are styles I prefer over others or like less than others

Heh, I actually love salmiakki/salty licorice x3 best licorice

Can't think of many specific foods I've tried and really hated right now, bad meals however... this ravioli I ate once when on a class trip comes to mind, the filling tasted like nothing, the pasta itself tasted terrible (not sure how you mess up pasta that bad) and the sauce was not great either. My classmates didn't exactly seem impressed with the pizza they ordered either, so guess I won't be eating at that place again if I go back

I mean... there are several things I love specifically BECAUSE they're trash xD I'm quite fond of "so bad it's good". Chargeman Ken, Garzey's Wing, ect.

Though other than that... it's actually hard for me to think of "guilty" pleasures, guess I'm just too shameless xD A few things that came to mind at first are honestly more "actually just kinda meh"

phoenixjklin:
I've always heard that you should start with more realistic artstyle, and then move onto a more cartoony style if you want, but I've never heard of how someone would do the opposite.

Regarding this - I think it would be more a case of also practising fundamentals and then trying to incorporate what you've learned into your drawings, whether you want to change your style or you're happy with it or the "idea" of it but want to improve it. (I really should get back to practising more ahaha) If you specifically want a more realistic style, practise from reference photos and get inspiration artwork in similar styles

(and a comment on the "start realistic and then move on to cartoony"): for me, I started out drawing cartoony and simple because, well, I started drawing as a young kid and never stopped, I know "when you started drawing" is supposed to mean more when you started being more "serious" about drawing or took it up as a hobby rather than literally the first time you picked up some crayons, but for me there wasn't a moment like that, I never stopped drawing and it just gradually and slowly grew into that from my early childhood to my teens x3 I'm happy with my style, or the "idea" of it but would also like to improve

Well... my comic is a gag comic with no real "ending", just a bunch of standalone comic pages/short stories x3 Though I guess I try making the short stories the "right" length, not too short and rushed but also not dragging on too much

Well... my comic IS more or less already based around real-life brands and companies xD since it's supposed to be a parody with sometimes direct commentary it makes more sense to refer to the actual companies in this case x3 For my other idea, though, I likely would make up a lot of them, but less due to copyright worries (it's a free webcomic, after all) and more due to it being not-quite "our" world (though it's similar, except for the characters being anthro animals) and thus wouldn't have the same brands, plus it could be fun making up stuff and some would just be clear parodies of existing stuff anyway

sigh

This whole thing is as written by someone who has no idea how the internet (or fair use) works and the only creators it really benefits are the big companies... plus we all know content ID bots are far from perfect (how many youtube videos have been affected by false flags or people abusing the system? I can just imagine how this will be abused) Plus this would just be really inconvenient to implement, and like mentioned, make it really hard and expensive for smaller sites who can't afford it...

Living in Norway, one of the few European countries not in the EU I don't really have any representatives to contact but the fact that this is happening at all is scary... basically scanning and potentially censoring/blocking everything that gets posted, everything we upload and share? Guess all I can do for now is share the word

I draw both original art and the occasional fanart (though even my comic can be considered kinda "derivative" in a way, being a parody of the game industry). While I prefer drawing my original characters now (and have done ever since I started posting art online, really, long before I started a comic and my OCs were just "characters I like drawing") sometimes I just wanna draw a character from a game/anime/ect. I like. Of course, it would have to be for something I care about myself, I wouldn't draw the newest popular thing if I wasn't into it myself just for views

I have a lot of favorite things but a fun thing to see would be... glitches, and general Glitch Aesthetic

as for the hat, let's go with (changed my mind) a slightly rounded/puffy newsboy hat

(just realized my avatar might not be the easiest to fit a hat onto, just let me know)

For me, I mostly just find it amusing, and might even take it as a compliment if Y is something I like x3 As long as they're not straight up calling it or implying it's a ripoff, I'm fine with it. I see why some creators might not like it, though, and I wouldn't say this to someone if I knew they didn't like it

I've had my comic compared to Hetalia several times (a series that is a big part of what got me into personification/gijinka/moe anthropomorphism/whatever) in the first place), like "Hetalia with game companies" and also once as "Hetalia meets Neptunia" (the latter being a game series parodying the game industry with cute anime girl personifications of consoles and companies - another series I like). I've also on several occasions gotten compared to the webcomic Fanboys, which I find kinda amusing it happened twice with the same specific gaming comic? (I mean, I see why, the "3 characters, one for each of the big 3 consoles" but still)

As for characters, Tiger has been compared to Furio Tigre from Ace Attorney, and while not a specific character, Microsoft was once referred to as "a stereotypical anime American" and... I see where they're coming from x3

If you want to, sure! Though if it's for exposure, then that's not too easy on dA... I'm fine with dA as a site mainly because layout-wise it seems to be one of the best "art gallery"-type site I know of (others I know of either seeming more for "professional" art/artists or geared towards specific types of art). I don't get much attention or views but I just like having an "art gallery" to link to, I also haven't gotten into any drama... and also managed to get a few comic readers there (which reminds me, I really should upload my newest comics soon...)

Probably early 2004-ish, I joined in late 2003 if I remember right (some time in the latter half of 2003 at least) I'm 23 now (turning 24 this year)

So yeah, a while ago... not sure if it works the same now though

Some years back I saw someone using Bonzibuddy on their advert

Just an advert lying in a car front window, and out of all characters you could use... there's bonzibuddy

Probably - I remember having to do something like that as a young kid on Neopets (signed up at 9 years old and some months after I joined I suddenly couldn't edit petpages or use the forums anymore so I guess that's when they implemented the rules) so I had my dad sign a paper and mail it to them

Well, obviously my Consolers characters will just give me the actual game companies, though I have still found some interesting things from time to time... there are at least 2 other companies named "Palcom" (a shell company made by Konami to publish more games on NES in Europe, represented by Konami in an obvious disguise), the others are also unrelated to games

As for my other characters... Derana gives me a Sri Lankan TV channel called "TV Derana", huh
