In all my years here on CF, we have barely interacted (my fault, to be honest). That being said...

I am sending healing thoughts and hugs your way. If you haven't already, set up your dad with the hospital social worker. There are other ways to diagnose that suspected condition than a gastroscope (CT or MRI scans can be helpful), and could (possibly) rule it out too.
I'm sure you looked up the Wikipedia entry on it, and that you CAN recover from it, so the treatment isn't necessarily "life support".

Be well, and PLEASE get the help you need from a professional. I'm sure there is a Mental Health "crisis line" in your area.

Karumtoo-Rexo:This site's on the fritz again.

It has nothing to do with how slow the site is, but I'm starting to see that while I'm connected to the internet, Firefox on my computer keeps telling me that I'm disconnected from the internet. On the next page I go to on the forum, it does just that, but after I refresh the page, I'm on that page.

Weird... Tell me if you guys want more clarification with screenshots.

Clear out your cookies and cache, shut down Firefox (verify in Task Manager), and re-launch it. You will have to log in again, but this should help.
This is, of course, if you're on a PC and not a mobile device.

Merged Doublepost:

junoro:This seems to be the place to mention the site not working, so I'm here to report a similar experience to others here, where the site started giving me 500 errors at 1am PST. Took forever to load, then gave me an error page.

As I said earlier, this is probably the time for server maintnance. There are TONNES of processes that happen in the overnight hours that slow down servers as they backup data, and restart processes to reallocate memory, among other things. I am literaly going to school to learn thigs like this... lol

Also, the servers used by CF are probably "virtual" servers, and only a tiny part of what the actual machine is processing.

Speaking as a somewhat "techie" guy, since it seems that the latest issues happen around the same time in what would be "normal" overnight hours (for those who work 0900-1700... lol); then that must be a server maintenance time. Backups to all servers, software updates, archiving, etc tend to be run in the wee small hours of the morning when there are MUCH less demands on the servers and infrastructure.

This, of course, is speculation; but it also happens to be what I'm going to school for right now. Blame the normies for designing their maintenance schedules for artists' active hours... lol

I don't post in the threads often, but I feel I have to at this point.
Kyo, thank you for everything you have done and are doing.
At this point, If you have the means, it's time for Lawyers to get involved. A BBB complaint wouldn't be far from the norm also. To me, they seem to be in breach of contract.

It's too bad you cannot accelerate the transition to a different server. Please feel free to PM me, I might be able to lend a hand if you need a bit of scratch.

PONDEROUS here in Ottawa, both on a VPN and off.
"Problems with Firefox and NordVPN", 11th Oct 2020, 7:37 PM #6

Something strange happened the other day when I was trying to read my subscribed comics on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 5S and the latest Firefox update. I was able to go to the individual pages, but I could NOT see the actual comic. Everything else on the page was visible (comments, navigation buttons, etc) but neither the actual image nor any "mouse-over" text.

I found a work-around, but it only works for some of the comics. I click on the "readability" button in Firefox, and then can see the images; but it's not available on ALL comic pages.

Another issue, is that I run NordVPN, and CF does not seem accommodating. Either the links tome out, or I get a "database" error. These days, if you're NOT using a VPN, then you leave yourself wide open for all kinds of shenanigans.

Does anyone have an idea where I might be going wrong? If it's something on my end, please let me know and I will see what I can do.

Thanks in advance!

I'll throw my hat into the ring. I'm a native English speaker, somewhat of a grammar Nazi (lol), and I'm thinking of eventually starting my own comic. Send me a PM and let's see how things work out.

Thank you SO much Serpy! Congrats on 200+ subs, may you earn 200 more! Your pic of Dolly is one of my favourites (along with Artemis and Axton). Do you mind if I send that beautiful pic of Artemis to Caley Tibbitz (I'm certain he would appreciate her)?
