Gather round, oh denizens of Comic Fury, for it is time to enter into the next exchange! And I have an idea that you might enjoy...

What is this idea, you ask? Well, it's an exchange, but not as you have known them in the past. This exchange, we are going to Alternate Universes!

That's right! For this exchange, you get to create an Alternate Universe (AU) for your recipient, starring their OCs (kind of).

Here's how it works:

(Please only enter if you are SURE you can fulfill your end of the bargain. We realize life sometimes throws a curveball, but if there is a video game coming out that you know is going to eat all of your time, or you think school and/or work might get too hectic, just wait for the next one, please. Thank you.)

1. You sign up for the exchange by May 25, telling us which comic you are entering (sorry, we're only doing one this time). Tell us which flags you have (V!, L!, N!, and/or S!) and which flags you are comfortable reading.

2. After the cutoff for sign-ups, you will be randomly assigned a comic to create and illustrate an AU for. If you are not familiar with the comic, I recommend that you read at least a good portion of it, to get a feel for how things USUALLY work there.

3. Brainstorm, create, and illustrate your idea. This needs to be done by June 25. (Yes, that's a little over three weeks.)

4. On June 29, the exchange will go up, and we all ooh and ahh at the splendiferous things we all have made.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What do you mean, Alternate Universe?

A. That's pretty easy. Let's say that you are assigned a comic that is a police procedural. An AU might take the core concept and place it in the Old West, or in space. You might take the characters and turn them into high school characters (keeping their core personalities, but making them students and/or faculty). You might swap the gender of every character, or just some of them. You might turn it into a Looney Tunes style cartoon. You might unleash a zombie apocalypse on them. You might shove them into YOUR comic (replacing your cast). You might decide to do more than one of these, or something completely off the wall. The key is to keep it at least mostly recognizable as its source material (the original comic/characters).

Q. What if I can't finish my assignment in time?

A. No sweat. Just let me know as early as possible, and we can probably find a replacement for you. That being said, let me reiterate that we assume you are entering into this in good faith.

Q. Where do you come up with these messed up exchange ideas?

A. I wish I knew... :P

So who's with me on this?

(ALSO: I could use some volunteers. Specifically, I would like to get someone for website work, someone to do the banner, and someone to do the avatar).

I'm in with TSOTA, link in the sig, flags N! And L!.

I'm okay with any flags. And it's not said in the OP but here are the comics I've already did a piece for in previous exchanges:
Twilight Trust, Serpents of Old, Breaking the Lore, WhiteOut.
â–ş Read The Guardian with Dots (Short comic)
It's great. Six pages. Intense. Suspense. Gardening. You won't believe it.

Yes please.

I'd like to enter with Waste Of Time, which has the L! and S! flags, although the S! flag is preemptive--I haven't got to any of that yet.

I'm fine with reading whatever, but if I'm assigned a comic that's very graphic I may be "softening" it for the exchange. :)

Ayyy lmao - submitting Those Unknowable, of course, tags are V and L. Should be fun. I can't remember all the comics I've done before, no preferences on tags to avoid.

I had to get away from my 2 week Comicfury break to sign up to this! It looked so good...

I'll resigter Death By Choice! V! may be a tag. (It probably is. There's blood and gore.)

I can take V! and L!.

Gonna submit Catihorn. It's tagged for language and violence.

I'm comfortable reading a comic with language, violence, and non-sexual nudity. I'm not comfortable with sexual content.

That's A Good Tree, Harrison enters the ring. It's prolly safe to say it's got Language and Violence? I dunno.

I'm ready for anything, though. Here's hoping for Banana Cream Cake.

Put me in, coach. I can make the winning touchdown running goal.

I think I'll enter with Karabear Comics Presents Special. It does have nudity at the very beginning (but none from page 4 and on), as well as a little violence (it's superheroes--hard to do that genre without violence in some capacity). I don't care what flags on the comic I get.

I've done art for:
Average Day Randomness
Cat Hero's Amazing Catventures as an Hero)
Demon Witch - Prototype
Eternal Knights
Everlasting Garden Fields
Fire in the Belly
The Friendly Wilderness
God Complex: Dogma Days
Jenffer's Show (twice for some reason)
Kaza's Mate, Gwenna
Mirrored Conversations
Nothing Fits
Oho! Aha! Revival! Raw!
The Other Grey Meat
The Restless Dead (kinda--never finished, still not happy with that fact)

Long list. Hope I didn't miss anybody.

Hey Prof!

I.... as of right now, I don't know if I want to commit officially to an exchange.............. but I know since I'll immediately regret this decision as soon as sign ups close, I would pleeease like to volunteer as a backup artist in case ya need one! If.. if my name can be put at the top of the back up artist list, I would be eternally grateful! <33

Thanks for starting up one of these!
