Flats of three female Equilibrists and a nebula in the background. I love nebulas (nebulae?) and try to cram as many into my artwork as I can.
I want there to be some variety where female designs are concerned and the character in the middle is an older female superhero who has some meat on her muscles. The character with the helmet is skinny without curves.
I got stuck so my fiance offered to storyboard this page.
I'm actually kinda jealous of his storyboarding skills :T I was bashing my head against my desk for a couple of days and then he just sorted out the panels I was agonizing over in like an hour. *hires as a semi-permanent storyboarder*
The classic weeaboo backpack, ca. 2010. A lot of us had one in high school. I wanted one, but I grew up poor, so I could never afford anime merch. Anyway...
First, the lineart.
As you can see, it was all cocked up, with both ink drips (lesson learned: never overload a dip pen) and bad structure on the arm, so I scanned it into Photoshop, edited those out, spotted the blacks, edited in some sampled logos and symbols (I could have drawn them all myself, but it would've been a huge waste of time, honestly), and printed it at 5% opacity, then did the hatching over that.
Finally, I scanned it, combined them, then moved on to Manga Studio for a few hours of flatting and toning.
