Right now, I get the basic gist of airplanes. They are, broadly speaking, vehicles that can fly. Sometimes you see them in the sky, and they look too small to be vehicles, but that's because they're very high up there. If you want to fly and go somewhere far away, you can get into an airplane to do that.

I'm done with knowing these things about planes. I want to look up at the sky, see an airplane, and have no idea what's going on there. I want that sense of confusion and bewilderment back. Are they large metal birds? Buses that know not the dangers of flying too close to the sun? Humans who turned into sky tubes because of an ancient curse the Wright brothers put on them?

I could probably come up with more theories, but alas, I basically know what an airplane is.

...And, try as I might, I'm worried I'll always basically know what an airplane is if I put my mind to it. How can I learn less information about these flying buses?

Scoop out the part of your brain that contains all your knowledge about planes and you're good.

You know less than you think you do about these so-called "aero-planes". On other planes of existence, planes can be any number of alternatives, including slow-motion high-altitude somewhat-underwhelming fireworks, optical illusions, optical delusions, optical allusions, and just plane magic.

There are a handful of travel agencies who specialise in transporting individuals to these other planes. I recommend Plane & Simple, a company actually headquartered on the other side of this plane of existence, though they have offices dotted across all of the planes, and even have offices in some of the planes! You may speak with a travel agent and purchase a plane ticket at any time of day.

In all seriousness though, the last airplane trip I went on, I made it my goal to imagine the vehicles as an outsider might, and I was successful in deluding myself into childlike awe at these majestic metal avian dinosaurs. I feel you, bro.

Just stare at airplanes so long that they lose all meaning. You’ll forget what the visual signifier for “plane” even looks like. It’s like when you reread the same sentence so much it becomes gibberish, but with planes.

Lutzbug:

Dammit, I tried that! I can't recognize faces or speak coherently anymore, but I still know about planes!

inky:

Wait a minute. If I travel to the planes in these other planes of existence, wouldn't I learn more about planes? Is there an option to only travel to the planes where planes are optical delusions and/or sub-optimal conclusions?

Kyo:

Planes have windows? Why would anyone want to look at sky?

...Aaaand now you've taught me something else about airplanes. Nice going, jerk.

Try absorbing false information about airplanes until it cancels previous plane knowledge. There should be plenty of it if you look up "chemtrails" and "9-11 hologram hoax".

Huh. I can't tell if reading false information is working or not. So far, I've learned that planes are an inside job, and chemtrails are turning the friggin' frogs gay. Maybe the conspiracy theories are eroding the plane-specific parts of my brain that I haven't scooped out yet. Can't say for sure.

It's hard to forget information, but very easy to confuse it.

I recommend pulling up wikipedia pages for birds, cars, airplanes, and rockets, then covering up which is which and switching between them rapidly. Hopefully, you will have no idea which belongs to which. Can you drive cars? Do rockets eat seeds? Do birds need premium unleaded or jet fuel? Who knows? Not you.

Avoid being curious enough to look in the air WHEN THEY HOVER OVER YOUR HOUSE LIKE MANIACS, AND ARE SO FAR DOWN/CLOSE THAT YOU THINK THEY'RE GONNA LAND ON YOUR ROOF!!!!!!! (Ahem) sorry, I was just reminded of the many helicopters that "visit" where I live from time to time..
In your case, being a loyaldog should help: simply keep digging and/or rolling in dirt, until you forget all about those things in the sky! You might even believe they're giant butterflies, or leaping trees!

I’ve been trying something like this, but it involves repeatedly watching a movie clip where some people say “It’s a bird! It’s a plane!” Sometimes, if I watch the clip enough, I can convince myself that birds and planes are the same thing. I then smile because I’m thinking a wrong thing about planes.

CrosEL:

Unfortunately, I do need to look at the sky in order to bark at tree-dwelling animals.

ebarie:

Just as planes are flying buses, automobiles are the children of buses, and trains are buses that have been human-centipeded together.

Have you considered filling your brain with information about other things that are called planes?

A plane is a flat, two-dimensional surface of infinite area, either as a separate mathematical object or as a subset of a higher-dimensional space. A plane may be uniquely defined by: three noncollinear points, a line and a point not on that line, or two distinct lines that either intersect or are parallel. A plane in Cartesian space may also be defined by equations equivalent to the above.

A plane is a tool used for shaping wood, specifically flattening, smoothing, and thinning. They are commonly used in the production of lumber. The tool consists of a cutting edge and flat body (the "sole") which holds it at a fixed angle and relative position.

Plane is a village in Bosnia and Herzegovina, specifically in Han Pijesak.

A plane is a distinct universe within the Multiverse, separated from each other by the Blind Eternities. Travel between them is impossible for living beings, save only those whose planeswalker spark has ignited, but certain portals and devices have allowed traversal by nonliving matter. Planes may be represented by a plane card in the Planechase format (see Comprehensive Rules sections 309, 901, and 205.3n).

A plane is a set of 2^16 distinct codepoints. Of the seventeen possible planes (the Basic Multilingual Plane and the Supplementary planes), only six are defined (planes 0, 1, 2, 14, 15, and 16), with a further one (plane 3) reserved. Defined planes are subdivided into blocks of arbitrary size, though most are multiples of 256 for convenience.

A plane tree is a member of the genus Platanus, found primarily in Mexico and nearby environs, but now widely cultivated as urban trees. Most are deciduous, and are generally found in the wild in wetland habitats.

Plane is a river in Brandenberg, originating near Rabenstein and flowing north through Golzow and Planetal into the Havel at Breitlingsee.

A plane is a butterfly species, a member of the lycaenid family found in Australasia and Indomalaya, with seven known subspecies.

Planē was a Greek goddess, the abstract personification of error. Her name shares the same root as the word "planet", which was the Greek word for "to wander".

I hope you now know too much about planes to know anything about planes.

Try to live like the few uncontacted peoples that still exist.
Nobody explained to them what planes or helicopters etc. are, and when they see them it occasionally happens that they try to attack them with arrows or spears.

I'm assuming that wouldn't work, since I already know about planes. I've been corrupted my modern society, unfortunately.

GMan003:

No, God, what are you doing?! The plane knowledge is overloading my system! I can't take it! No! NOOOOOO!!!

Also have another idea, close your eyes when you're looking up and happen to see or even hear one coming!
(There's one going over this house now: I'm not going out to look!)

I decided the best way to get over my fear of airplane crashes was to dedicate a couple days to watching nothing but documentaries on airplane crashes and accidents.

It didn't completely eliminate my fear of airplane crashes but I did learn a lot.

I don't recommend watching documentaries of absolutely horrific and devastating plane crashes if you're trying to learn less.

edit: It's 9/11, I didn't realize it and I'm sorry

Actually, I wasn't thinking about the timing when I made this thread. That's kinda on me.

It's very difficult to remember the date when one of the plastic wings breaks off inside you.
