I was just wondering... since there are all these other holiday exchanges like for Halloween, Valentine's Day and Christmas, why not have one for a good cause? In this case, Movember. Hence its name, it takes place during November and it's male cancer awareness month. People show support in practising a healthy lifestyle while the men don't shave and women don't cut their hair. The symbol is either a white and blue striped necktie or a bar handle moustache.

Do you think that maybe Comic Fury should do a Movember? Society makes such an emphasis on female cancer, but men are just as vulnerable to it and getting checked yearly for it is important. Nobody is invincible and I think it is a great thing to be aware of because most people don't know about it even though have lost important men in their lives to cancer.

Is anyone with me?

I am willing to participate, but how exactly do you want to do it?

Well... like all other Comic Fury exchanges, it could be two people doing a crossover with male cancer awareness always being the theme. In other words, the crossover is meant to bring awareness and be educational as well as emphasise how important it is for men to get their yearly checkups. I think many people could benefit from it. Plus, we need to link it back to websites where people can make donations for Movember.

I am also open to ideas.

It'd be nice to do something, but seeing as it's sandwiched between halloween and christmas, two very popular exchanges, I'm not sure there'll be time to do a full exchange.

I have to agree with Jammy here. There's a lot going on during the end of the year, so a full exchange might not work - maybe an exchange pic, like the Back To School pic from last year.

Well then, how about this for an idea? Instead of doing full blown comics, how about just some crossover art pieces showing support for Movember? It's simpler.

I like Jeremy7's idea! I think it's likely more people will be able to join for something like that, rather than a full exchange be it comics or single images. Things like that have been done before, too.

I like it too. So we agree then? A single panel comic or a single art piece which showcases what Movember is about and supporting it?

I’d be down for something to the tune of “Draw your own character(s) with a mustache for Movember” as a thread or as posted to a site or both. IMHO the logistics of a full blown exchange aren’t required to raise awareness, but maybe that’s just my current lack of enthusiasm for crossovers/exchanges doing the talking.

That works too. Just having Movember made aware is a good thing and maybe in the future, it can catch on. It is for a good cause after all.

So then the laydown of the exchange is like this... people send in Movember art pieces on a thread when November comes around?

Yeah, then instead of an exchange that's up and gone (or at best in "Popular Now" for a few days) then the forums can be hawking Movember all month as long as people keep on posting up.

To be clear: my understanding of the goal of Movember is to raise awareness of cancer screening in a population that is generally less inclined to go to the doctor (because suck it up) and therefore more predisposed to dying from easily treatable cancers (when they detected early). It is not to minimize cancer's toll in women, nor the need for specific research into diseases' impact on women.
