Intro:

It's good to be back with another edition of Draw Your Characters Doing Stuff! This thread was inspired by a string of threads with the same/similar names and the same concept of drawing your characters doing various things. The last thread was hosted by both me and Nyomi. This time, however, it's just me! Doesn't change the fact that this should be a fun thread with lots of great artwork from amazing people.

You may be wondering why this one is called "Crystal Edition." Well, of the Generation 2 Pokemon games my favorite was Silver. However, I didn't even know there was a third version called Crystal until later and I'm sad I never got to play it because you could choose to be a boy or girl if you wanted. I would have chose to be a girl... ;-; (Oh, and I just like the word "edition" better than "version", so there's that too)


What This Thread Is About:

Things are going to work just a tad differently than the last Draw Your Characters thread. Like last time, you will be given both prompts and themes to work with. Prompts are more specific ideas while themes will be a bit broader. However, instead of having both a new prompt and new theme every week we will be doing the following:

- There will be a new PROMPT one week.
- There will be a new THEME the next week.
- Repeat.

So we'll just be alternating between a new prompt and new theme every week. Simple enough, right?

That being said, this is supposed to be a nice, fun, and relaxing thread, so don't put too much pressure on yourself. You're free to do any of the prompts and themes whenever you feel it. You are not limited to only doing the new ones for the week. There will be two lists below for all the prompts and themes that have been listed so far. Also, be as detailed or as sketchy as you want to be with your pieces. Like I said, no pressure.


Rules:

There's only a few of them.

1. The drawing must be a new one made for the prompt or theme. No pre-existing artworks. This is to encourage creativity.

2. Keep your artworks PG-13 at most. No porn or NSFW stuff. We're going to have people of all ages in here, so be mindful of that. If you believe your artwork is PG-13 but could make someone uncomfortable (violence, blood, sexual suggestiveness, whatever) then you should put in a spoiler and say why it's in a spoiler so people know whether or not they should click it.

3. Whenever you're posting an artwork for a prompt or theme, please label it with whichever prompt or theme you did. This just really helps me immediately know what you were doing so I don't have to guess at it, especially when the lists of themes and prompts start to get longer.

PROMPT #1: Draw Your Characters Introducing Themselves

Yup, this is the same first prompt that I did with the last thread! But you know, introductions just work so well for first prompts. Choose whatever characters you'd like to introduce themselves. They can tell us a little about themselves too if they feel like it, but it's up to them.

And like the last thread, I will try (emphasis on TRY) to have an example ready whenever I put out a new prompt or theme. For this week, I have my characters Umella, Caster, and Pillow introducing themselves!

Hell yeah we back in business baby. Rather than focus on my main cast, this time I decided to start with some supporters that I just like drawing

Yay, new thread! Ended up splitting this one into two images, with the dragons on one and Picka on the other, just seemed to fit better that way!

IRONICALLY muenos is an older OC than polaris is (from 2017), i just havent used him in 12 bajillion years until i made him in the sims and he started crushing on polaris and i was like. sure man why the hell not you can do that i guess
they have a mutual crush on each other. everyone knows this... except for polaris
also i have an art tablet now instead of drawing on my phone. yippee!

Good to see you and your characters again! We got good ol' Cat Donut, Stache, Xyrconius, and more. One thing I must say, is that I relate to Cat Donut quite a bit here. Coffee is very good. I love coffee too, dude! And you are not wrong that they are waving like they're in a mattress store commercial. Brings to mine many of the local mattress store commercials I saw as a kid and still see randomly here and there. I can't be for certain, but I think one universal constant in the US is that everyone has vivid memories of their local mattress store low budget commercials, lol.

Look at the gang, here! Seems we got some fan favorite supporting cast members. You got Sage with his cool guy energy and hairy chest, Anna with her tough girl and stand-offish demeanor, and Carter with his athletic bat boy self. I love all of them! Especially Carter. Look at my bat boi right there! He's just so adorable and cool looking. Great to see all of them!

Very nice to welcome back *intense howl* Tan, Edan, and Picka! They're always such a pleasure to see. I've said this before, but I just really love their designs. They really match their personalities I believe. Especially Tan with her more mischievous nature. She's always got this look to her face which makes it seem she's going to get herself into some trouble. I believe Edan when he says looking after Tan is a full time job. And then there's Picka! I love Picka. She's probably my favorite of your characters design-wise. She just looks so cool. I like her colorful hair, her blue goblin skin, all the piercings and spiked bracelets and armlets. She has some sweet pants here as well. I say hoyo to her as well!

It's nilloc and his boys! Conner and Adam up to it, I see. And if they're not up to it, they're going to be up to something eventually, lol. Really like the shading and highlights you did here. Definitely makes them pop. Don't know why, but they give me this style of glossy toys or figurines with the shading and such. It's really cool! Good to know Adam has been learning how to speak Spanish. Broadening your knowledge and horizons is a good thing. And he seems to be doing well with the Spanish so far.

Hey, good to see you again! And it's always quite the pleasure to see Polaris. Stinky son indeed, lol. And no, I'm not a cop. Just a dude who likes seeing people draw their characters doing cool things. Obviously Polaris is cool and I like his design, but it's awesome to see Muenos too! I really love the story of how you came about using him again. That's such a cute thing, and honestly I've had ideas for my characters come from doing similar things. Awwww, they crushin'!!! Perhaps Polaris will realize it at some point. Seems like Muenos does a good job at flustering him at least, lol. I had no clue you were drawing on your phone! Glad you got an art tablet and hope to see you around in here.

Look at that! The boys (and girls) are back in town! I like how they all have different stances and poses here. Haruhi's pose is obviously the most intentional (and cool) but I also really like Reina crouching like that with her hand on her face. And of course Akane is in the back just chilling away from everyone else. Really love the setting you put them in. You got a city or town with some hills or mountains in the back with the blue cloudy sky. Really nice stuff! And I always really enjoy seeing Paul. He's adorable!

Of course we got Subject M and Xen! They're looking good as always. I really dig Xen's white open jacket and her brown skirt with the belt. And we got some of your other characters which I'm just starting to know more about from the Room of Scrutiny thread. I like Hankbert's design. A furry little monster he is!

Of course this works! What's a Cheshire introduction without getting into some sort of trouble? God, I really love his hair here. Though, I've pretty much liked every hairstyle I've seen Cheshire have. But I think it's cool that half of it is light toward the front/side and the rest of his hair is dark. Looks like he got into a brawl of some sort with the black eye and the bruised knuckles there. I like the devious tongue thing he's doing there, I don't know how else to describe it, lol. Oh, it says he's in there for theft and arson. I imagine he still punched someone at some point. Cheshire is a bit trouble happy. Great job!

I love your children. They are such wonderful childs. Ben is always really cool and charismatic. I like the dog tag necklace he's got going on there and his long horns and pointy ears. But I'd be lying if I didn't say that out of the two I adore Devon. She's always so meek and hesitant and adorable even though she's a grim reaper. I love her red eye makeup/tattoos/whatever you would call them. Awww, she's just hiding behind her brother. So cuuuuute!

No worries, there's never no late in the Draw Your Characters thread! You get unlimited extensions, lol. Very creative to frame it as Thai doing a video introduction for something for his school. I see Thai is as pleasant as always (I say this with complete love XD). My god, Cinnamon is so adorable!!! I love their confusion in the first panel and then how happy and loved they feel in the second panel. Good Cinnamon! And then Breakfast is just a little glowy floaty girl (I love these names, by the way). And then Cardemom has to come in and steal both the tea and the entire show, lmao! I love the blur effect on Thai there like he is already on the move when things go down. Wonderful job here!

I’m currently being consumed by the Star Wars fandom and god I love these two so much

Mr. Mighty is a minor-league superhero, currently living and working in Indianapolis. His daughter Summer just started developing superpowers, and is not happy about it. Son Steven has no powers, but is starting to notice girls.

My god, your characters are just so cute! Your art style and Star Wars goes very well together, so I'm glad you've been getting into Star Wars. Honestly, considering how cool these aliens are, I'm sure you could make some really cool humanoid alien designs yourself if you wanted. Just a thought, lol. Anyway, I love how Isoke and Shakissa look. Even though I've seen a decent number of Star Wars movies and such, I don't know the specific race of aliens they are, but I do recognize them by look and you did a great job translating them in your style with your own unique flairs. I love Isoke's introduction like she's looking into a camera and then wants Shakissa to do so too. Shakissa is so into her notepad at the moment though, lol. Very great stuff Mango Cat!

Nice to see you again too! Of course Mister Mighty makes a dramatic introduction and appearance to this thread. Love the lighting you did with him on the first panel and the lightning crack in the background. That's some really good lightning! And gotta love the transition into a more normal panel where he's introducing Jane, lol. Retired villainess, huh? That's an interesting concept. I'm sure they have an interesting story about how they met and everything. Goodness, the daughter is learning super powers and the son is getting interested in girls. Seems like a few stressful events in the Mighty household. Is Mister Mighty able to handle these challenges?! Hopefully!

Hey guys, it's time for our first theme! I'm actually quite excited about this since I never got to do the themes in the last thread. Well, I drew for some of them but I never made my own! So, here we go.


THIS WEEK'S THEME: Critical Error

Various ways you could take this. It could involve technology, a serious blunder on one of your characters' parts, or what have you. Another fun suggestion: if you're really struggling with something to come up with (and if you have a webcomic site on here), you could always draw a piece of art that you'd like to use for the Error Page on your webcomic site and then put it on there. If you're unsure of how to do that, it's a pretty simple process and I or someone else who knows could help out.


My Example:

I bring up the Error Page thing because I ended up making art that I felt fit with the Error Page, so I ended up using it for that. Here's a Beatrice going through a critical error.

Had a whole chapter about how things can go explosively wrong with magic goblin tech, and accidents do happen, so here's Picka making a bit of an error!


And, couldn't resist the idea of sticking it on the error page! Always wondered what I could put on there!
