Steamroller Man

Starting from Comic #1: Issue One Cover
Issue One Cover
Welcome to the online home of my webcomic! This first story was originally drawn on typing paper, and had a different cover, which you can see and read more about under the “Secret Origins” tab, in the menu bar above. I created this new cover image in the Clip Studio Paint software (which is fantastic for drawing comics) once I had decided to start posting the comic online. This comic is influenced by my love of things like the 1966 Batman TV show (AKA Batman ’66), Ben Edlund’s The Tick (especially the original comic) and 1960s and 70s Jack Kirby comics. I am totally embracing the inherent ridiculousness in the concept of superheroes, a little bit as a reaction to the current (now decades-long) approach in movies and TV of making them “realistic”.

I hope you enjoy the comic.

This is where it all began! Originally drawn on typing paper with a Japanese brush pen, I scanned the artwork and used Clip Studio Paint to do some touch-ups. I re-lettered every page digitally, to give the comic more of a slick, consistent look. I use free fonts from Blambot – they’re fantastic! Since this was the first page I drew, I hadn’t quite worked out the proportions of Steamroller Man’s head. So I completely re-drew him in the final panel using CSP.

AMAZING catchphrase! This reminds me alot of the the gags int he very early 60s-70s Mad Magazine or even some of the comics you'd find in the early issues of Nickelodean magazine. This is already a lot of fun to read!
"Let's roll!"
This made me burst out loud laughing. I love this type of humour. 😂

Took me the second time through to notice the joke here and I’m not sure if I was just in too much of a delighted hurry, or that my attention span has been destroyed by the very phenomenon being skewered. Either way - well done!
Lol why didn't he try the dark alley in the first place?
